  1. Camera land has a pretty smoking deal on a  Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR II 3.5-21x50 - G3 Illuminated Scope--WITH-- Kestrel CONX Sportsman Ballistic Weather Meter for almost a grand.

If you're not interested in the Kestrel, sell it and get a nice scope for about 1/3 of retail

Tools will be next.   Any pointers to a link that has a fairly comprehensive list here?

Unless you want to buy them from somewhere, I had the lapping tools made for the Aero upper(s) (large and small).

I also have the bar that inserts into the extension/lugs so you can then use a wrench to torque the barrel nut.

Flat rate USPS is pretty cheap,PM me again if you want to use them.

You don't know half of what you think you know.  Survivalshop joined here 10 May 2010.  Shortly after I did.  He's been here a long time, contributed alot, and he's a great, great guy.  He disappeared a couple years ago, for about a year, then came back.  I reached out to him while he was gone.

For what you THINK you know, you're full of shiit.  If he left again, then that's on him.  If you think that's all on me - then you are mistaken.  But you keep thinking that.

For why he stays, and why he goes - that's up to him.  For why he argues what he argues - again, that's up to him.

You gonna tell me what he thinks now, like Adam Schiff tells people he knows what the President thinks?...  That's pretty fucking audacious.

Try having a conversation without vulgarities, it shows ignorance.

He quit coming here the day you belittled him about being a gunsmith of 40 years.

It's not what I think, the proof is posted in the public eye for all to see.

  4. Ok, I'm bored

I understand this is your very own little cyber hangout, but I have watched you run a lot of knowledgeable people off, Survivalshop  being one of them.

A conformation usually ensues after someone's idea is different than yours.

Having less than $450 in spare parts is not what I would call a horde and is really minor in the grand scheme of things.

I also understood that a lot of people don't have the funds to lay out on cheap insurance should the need ever arise.

So yeah me saying that I have half a dozen spares and by me saying that is nothing compared to some of the stuff I've read about while here.

I always love whopper, but at least I differentiate.

I got lost and dropped this elsewhere last night.

I think I am down to two Barrel choices.   Have not researched this faxon yet, i.e., would like to know if they have a bolt to sell with it.

    https://faxonfirearms.com/faxon-18-big-gunner-profile-ar10-barrel-308-win-nitrided/#product-reviews

The other is the AERO BA 20" CMV offering now back in stock (or was a minute ago).

The Faxon would make a 9lb out of an otherwise 10lb rifle, no mag or scope.   Just iron sights in that weight.

Any observations... midweight?  Anything.   Even bolts/gas blocks available from Faxon.

BA is owned by Areo perssision, Primary arms has a sale on,you can pick up just about any BA barrel in 308 for a little more than a $120

You care to move up a few notches then get a Criterion.

You can call them directly and speak to Josh,or you can order one from Fulton armory.

Get a bolt at the same time when ordering from Criterion or Fulton.

FYI,I have well over a dozen BA barrelled firearms and probably six more spare barrels from BA.

Luth MBA-1s are lighter and lower priced then a Magpul with adjustable length and comb height which is why I chose it.Armalite now uses Luths on some of their factory models.

I agree with the above, I own both and the Magpul is definitely a pig.

Foolish not to take advantage of the most reliable buffer system made for about the same money, hands down the Armalite system wins, search here and find one that was a problem. I have read of several Aero kits that were issues and have one myself, gotta change the quarters every few hundred rounds as they get pounded flat.

    Why?

He is buying a system designed to work together by the manufacturer Areo Perssision.

I have half a dozen of rifles built off their stuff without one problem.

It it was hodge podge of parts, then yeah maybe.

  8. Aero owns Ballistic advantage, Primary Arms has a sale once a month where you could get a barrel for about half price.

I used a Centiron barrel on mine, in the end it's all about what you want to spend.

Stuff like sights, you could save buying elsewhere.

Their BCG are made by Toolcraft, I  bought theirs because it was in stock and on sale.

Sure doesn't appear to have solved the problem..........

We need to concentrate on our own business, clean our own house first before we worry about the rest of the world. If the drugs were legal there would not have been an Escobar, the war on drugs created him and will create many more just like him.

Yes the guy needed to go,but no one was thinking about page three.

It didn't do anything but create a power vacuum in Mexico

I don't necessarily agree with that, brother.  The LeBarons emigrated to Mexico in the 1880's.  Pablo Escobar made cocaine famous, smuggling it to the states starting in 1976 (establishment of the Medellin Cartel).  The LeBarons were part of Mexico almost a hundred years before drugs, and cartels, became a thing.

    I agree 100%.

We (CIA-DEA) fuqked everything up and started things on this downward spiral when we let Escobar get killed

At the time I think there was only one maybe two cartel factions.

Now, every state has at least one cartel

  11. I'm not disagreeing, but I also had problems with two extensions on barrels I got from Criterion barrels of all places.( the hole was too big and the pins fell out and were lost between them and me during shipping)

Josh actually wanted me to send the barrels back and I told him no way.

He ended up mailing me half dozen of the pins because I get stuff the next day from them through the mail.

It would have been a week screwing around waiting on someone else to ship them.

and it certainly doesn't "float" in the barrel extension.  It's a pretty good interference fit, the way it's designed.

Well maybe I had a poor choice of words, you are correct in saying that pin is an interference fit.

However by design the pin should expand and contract freely at it's own rate.

You have three dissimilar metals converging together all three will move at different rates.
