Information.. nice vid. ūü漬† I've never herd of a sound test from down range before? I have been down range from gunfire,¬† ¬†but what does it meter at range??¬† The robo is good in this one! ūüėą

Might have to try it for ya. Set up my phone facing the meter around 100yrds away. Shooting at a target around 10-20yrds away from the meter set up for reference. I bet it would be around 100db unsuppressed 5.56. I honestly have no idea lol.

You guys know how it is!!

I‚Äôm constantly horse trading AR15‚Äôs to the point that I just started taking them apart,¬†keeping the parts that I like, replacing those parts with stuff I didn‚Äôt like and reselling/trading for something else.¬†ūü§™

love me 10.5 sbrs. but this post in itself describes what i do all the time. I literally do the same thing. Theres guys that have 15 AR15's that are basic with some add on's,and then theres me..the guy whos got so much good poop in 5-7 AR's that can run all day in hell.

  4. I picked the platform like most. Already did the AR15 thing and still do but always wanted a big frame AR and the 308 caliber is hard to beat for all around usage. Common caliber,I reload for it,can find projectiles in a wide range of weights and list goes on.

I originally wanted a super short 308 like the HK51K.. but I can't drink champagne on a beer budget so yeah, that little bastard is just stupid and badass at the same time but no way i could afford one to be made.

I built my first one in 2017 i believe but had plans for one with a CMMG lower back to 2010. That didnt pan out and it was sold to make a move out of state.

  5. Top 3 pictures are CMMG and bottom 4 are the Diamondback.

I have 1 NEW UNFIRED Diamondback 13.5" midlength gas barrel up for grabs. Paid $130 few months ago. Never installed either.

    Would like $100 shipped

Next up is a used 12.5" CMMG barrel with a midlength gas also. Approx 400rds down tube. Gas port is .089"-.090"  shows finish wear signs externally but no damage to barrel. Since this guy is used but usually is expensive I'd like to just part ways with it for $100 shipped aswell.

No PayPal but Venmo works or typical money order works too. Reach out to me here in a private message or call or text me aswell.

With the SDN-6? Have I been ignorant of a muzzle device option for my SDN-6s since AAC stopped making 51T's?

I had a tiny end cap strike a while back and I was concerned with all the horror stories about the 51T being bad after so much wear. ECCO Machine is the business that does the conversions and he's done literally hundreds upon hundreds of em. I chose the Griffin mount set up cause I like their muzzle devices and price aswell.

ECCO Machine does a 1.375x24 ASR thread so you can choose a bunch of industry standard mounts. He coated it Socom flat black for me too;)

The mount can be welded in but I chose to just use rockset on it instead.

  7. Hey guys, thought i'd share with ya an old build, sorta. I built this gun a few years(4-5yrs) ago but never shared it on the forum even under my other lost screen name/profile. So i might aswell show you what i did and whats in it.

It was a 12.5" CMMG barrel prior for a few years but always had issues until i installed a heavier buffer than the 5.4oz standard. Gas port was larger at .89"-.90" area and it was a mid length gas but just didn't run great. Never ran good suppressed until i used a Superlative arms adjustable gas block. But then,it wouldn't run UNsuppressed. Thats typical sometimes with the 7.62x51/308 stuff only being able to run one or the other but I just knew there was a way to make it work without an AGB. Im not against them I just knew a smaller gas port would make it work better for suppressed and unsuppressed shooting. So i ditched the CMMG barrel and AGB few months ago.

FDE Aero lower/upper with normal parts kit.

    Geissele 3.5lb flat trigger

    Toolcraft dual ejector BCG

    Radian Raptor charging handle

    magpul grip and BUIS

Ballistic Advantage 16" midlength barrel cut and threaded to 13.5"/pin and welded by me with a Griffin 2.8" flash hider.

    Aero gas block and tube

CMMG 11" MLOK rail cerekoted Patriot Brown(its close to DD Mil-Spec Brown they have but won't sell their paint)

    Bravo B5 earth brown stock

Armalite carbine buffer system with Heavy Buffers 8.5oz 3.25" buffer. (screw that shitty 2.5" system)

American Defense FDE 1 piece mount/Vortex Razor 1-6x24

Generic Mlok offset mount with Vortex Razor red dot.

Elander Steel mags cerekoted sniper gray (love these mags!)

Cloud Defense light setup with classic zip ties for lights wire ūüėČ

I now really love this gun. it is a blast to shoot and is a just a head turner. I used to never like FDE colored guns. NEVER.....but since living in Arizona for over 12 years its grown on me for obvious reasons. I still love black guns the most but this guy is a win. It shoots 4-5 o'clock unsuppressed patterns with typical Nato spec ammo. with my SDN-6 its closer to 1-2 o'clock which is ok. No FTE through a few mags so im hoping my pin/weld was worth it. I might put in a heavier Sprinco Spring to help NOT have any issues running suppressed with other ammo. Hope you guys like it and if you have any questions just ask.

Several members here have built DI guns on those 12.5 inch Sig barrels with good success, search Sig and 12.5 and you should find lots of reading on the topic. I have a P716 and it's a jam-o-matic anchor. I have not found any advantage for the Sig piston over using the same barrel in a DI build, suppressed or not. Look at one of the switch type gas  blocks, they would simplify the gas setting like you are looking for. I can't answer on the other piston set-ups, never really been an external piston guy.

    https://www.primaryarms.com/seekins-precision-select-adjustable-gas-block-875in

I hear ya. I remember alot of those 12.5 DI setups running good. just had to have the proper gas tube made from what i remember. That sucks yours was a jammy sob. I just like the simplicity of it. Sorta simple like Sig's Classic Swat 5.56 with just a few positions. I loved that gun, should'be never got rid of it years ago.

i also notice Adams Arms is down. Wasn't a huge follower of their stuff anyways. POF seems to gun good but haven't seen anyone run one on a DPMS/SR25 setup that was orignally DI.

im not sold on a piston system being what I "NEED" but its what i'd love to try. Sorta like a HK51K 5.3" 308. Its not practical or even needed but just farging cool!

I might just have to try it and figure out what i can get away with as far as options go. Makes sense for manufactures to not dive into the GP 308 category for aftermarket people. Theres not alot of us who build it from the ground up and want a gas piston system on a 308.

  9. First post here as a newish member but long time builder.

I've had some time with a Sig 716 Patrol few years ago and didn't think much of it but now im considering trying to piece together or find the gas piston setup from Sig Sauer. Been difficult as to i can't find it or parts. Havent looked or called Sig direct yet though. this would be used on a 13.5 pinned/welded shorter build i already have. (Aero with BA barrel cut down). Want to ditch the Superlative arms block if possible.

Im mainly interested in the piston set up cause it looks simple and has only 4 adjustments. Would likely need a new BCG due to gas key style too. I like little amounts of adjustments. I run the guns suppressed alot but don't feel a 30+ click adjustable gas block is the answer. Its slightly annoying to have that many adjustments and i think no more than 10 is needed. I also remember sig having some of their 13" barrels having wrong drilled gas port locations few years ago and were discounted nicely. Im not sure if gas system is DPMS or proprietary....

Anyone run a gas piston setup like this or an Adams arms or POF? Thanks for any help or ideas.

Welcome @arm_usa from just north of Phoenix.  Hunter and former wrench turner.  Rumor is, I can shoot ok.  I've been up to your park a few times. Even had the opportunity to have a private, after hours tour from Dean, twice.  Helluva cool guy.  If you ever want to go pew, let me know and let's see what we can work out.  We have a somewhat secret spot down by Lake Pleasant that we can reach out to 1000 yds and our SDTF (Secret Desert Test Facility) that @98Z5V referenced is a ways south, where we can set up to a mile.  Just too damn hot right now to have any real fun.  Is it any cooler up there these days? I have a few toys and am actually very interested in running past that sound meter of yours for some real world results during "civilized" shooting.

sounds awesome. Its def still hot up here but not phx hot. around 103-105 this year which is not as hot as some years but I will take it over 115+. just really humid which sucks ass. send me a message and we can meet up for sure down the road, exchange numbers, info, etc, etc. i love to meter sh!t. whatever you got lets do it.

  11. Hey guys, been on the forum before a while ago but got busy in life(had a little baby girl this last Dec) and forgot my log in information. I wasn't very active and more of a lurker. I've built about 6 total 308AR's over the past 7 years. Built minimum of over 75 AR15's in the past 15 years aswell. Maybe more.

I will be more active this time around and can't wait to start on another Aero lower i have. Just can't decide the direction im going to take it.

I live in Central AZ area wheres is smaller and not as big but i live close to Sedona area which is super touristy and liberal. You head down the road 25 miles and im in a po-dunk,hills have eyes spot that I love.

I will add if anyone is close and or wants to travel i have a BK 2209 sound meter setup for measuring gunshots/suppressed stuff. If anyone has  Form 1 or 4 suppressors and wants to see what it really does im just a drive away.

On a side note,im a automotive mechanic by trade. from beginning of 2015 to the end of 2021 i had the luxury of working at a wildlife park as a mechanic and worked my way into working more with the big carnivores. I met my wife there and things just happened and we made it work. I was a dumb mechanic and she was a NAU grad and showed me the ropes of how to survive living with big cats. Sooo...im a animal person big time but PETA sucks ass and I do hunt because animals are also tasty.

The wife and I. This dude Jabari (male lion 4 years old now) we hand raised along with his brother and his older sister. they all were rejected by mom and left for dead so we had to raise em'. Was a privilege being able to raise these lions for years and them accept us into their pride. His current weight im told by old co-workers is hovering around 480lbs still which is what he was in this picture.
