beachmaster Posted October 29, 2014 Author Report Share Posted October 29, 2014 I am sorry to say that I didn't weigh the rifle before the change (factory weight isn't always reliable) and I haven't weighed it since to be honest... I can say that I love it, but I will try to weigh it soon... I need an accurate scale! I believe the weight difference between the two rails is over 10oz though. beachmaster Posted December 10, 2014 Author Report Share Posted December 10, 2014 If you find a good deal, I do think that it is worth it to dump the quad rail. What you get once dropping the quad rail is a light weight ar that is worth more than the sum of its parts. Because if you can find a good deal on one, you can get it and the new rail for as much as a comparatively set up rifle from the factory, but the gii will be lighter. The Loctite situation is a bummer... swapping handguards and muzzle breaks should be a straightforward thing that you can do in your garage with minimal tools... but DPMS seems to disagree.
