  1. But who is the most respectable manufacturer. I understand anomalies in manufacturing that can add or detract from the intended use of the part / component in question. But who has the most use and accuracy bias overall? Lothar Walther (guessing from Larue's inherant sub m.o.a. out of the box) or
  2. That is the information I have searched for in an absolute nutshell. So now to find an 11.25 twist 20 inch barrel or get on a list
  3. On my introduction post I got 10+/- barrel makers, but no 100% definitive which is the best. I've read Mike Rock and 5R from Obermeyer are up their, but Boots is out several months on shipping and Walther is 8+ months. If I cannot decide on a specific maker I'll probably go with a Rainier Arms UltraMatch due yo its availability. I want superior accuracy, and longevity. Not quite thread a needle at 1K but hit a 10 inch plate several times. Even if I buy an ULTRAMATCH now and get on the list for Walther or another maker. So I in effect am pre-accurizing to all of yalls own annoyance. I despise having a "best no less" mentality.
  4. Guy in the gun shop said a Mike Rock 5R barrel is the best cited M24 yada yada. I know 5R is good but is it as good as everyone's saying?
  5. I've got a couple weeks to wait. So Lothar Walther has the 11.25? JP sells barrels with matched/fit bolt faves. But I really don't want to build a bolt.
  6. What is the best twist rate for 308? I've read 11.25 is the best... The Rainier is 10... Who makes an 11.25 twist?
  7. Alright. I'm gonna go with Rainier, but funds gotta be their first. But in the off chance someone has a 5R barrel to part with comment here
  8. A reputation/reliability bar would be extremely helpful to those of us that are new at this. Can a stainless barrel be cerakoted/Duracoated?
  9. Rainier it is. Thats the last part I needed to decide on. Everything else is decided on. Waiting on my bcg
  10. Is their a better barrel in the same general price range? I don't want to buy a barrel and not have it perform to spec. They're made from Satern blanks (I think) so its a good platform to build off of with the right rate of twist. I'll get a 20 inch barrel due to my own preference of a longer barrel for better accuracy at range, and I weight isn't an issue for me.
  11. Anybody have experience with a Rainier Ultramatch barrel?
  12. Wow. Well now to find one. Thinking the JP or Lilja, unless yall say otherwise. Heavy contour or no?
  13. Dang. I'll look into getting a blank machined from an already have gunsmith owned barrel. I'd like 5R rifling, but want the best available. What barrel maker does the military use for M24 barrels?
  14. See how available Lothar Walther and Satern are; what barrels do Larue use? Shilen blanks?
  15. I cannot find a barrel that can print the MOA I want. What are the top 3 barrel makers? Krieger is back ordered, Shilen doesn't produce a 308 Semi-auto barrel (that I could find), what are other upper-level barrels? I'll file through the different mag releases later. So my lower should be done soon (money permitting)
  16. SOLD! Magpul P.R.S. in o.d. and a Magpul M.I.A.D. grip. Phase 5 Tactical lever; B.A.D. A.S.S. safety, then gotta find a mag release
  17. Alright; I have a question on buffer and stock selection. What other manufacturers are their of stocks? I like the Battleline Industries S.A.P.R. collapsible stock with adjustable l.o.p. and comb height. But the Magpul P.R.S. is non-length adjustable. From yalls experience what is the best "precision" rifle stock for my rifle? Cost doesn't matter; quality does.
  18. Not yet. I doubt their will be another one; just different upper set ups; unless I decide to one up this build
  19. Got my receiver set earlier today as well as a Geisele Super Dynamic trigger 3-Gun trigger. Had SSA's, but I didn't particularly like the 2 stage. If I ever upgrade (highly unlikely) I'll get a Tricon. Now to choose my barrel and rail

  21. Treat it just like a bolt action; just with different round variability
  22. Treat it just like a bolt action; just with different round variability
  23. So as long as its assembled and head spaced it should do fine to run on either ammunition. Just run it on 308 for awhile to break it in?
  24. I have a random question that bugs me; my AR will eat whatever I feed it 5.56 or 223. Can I build an Ar10 that will eat both 7.62 and 308 so I can shoot match 308 ammo and military BALL 7.62? Or is that one of the quirks of the Ar10 using only one ammo or the other?
  25. Daniel Defense rail. Specifically I like the look of the 7.62 LiteRail or the Knights Armament Company M5 RAS Rail
