  1. so your saying this is not unusual, hum. Is that because the bullet assist feature is basically a carry over from the older AR-15 platform from the early days and even few people use the feature even on a 15 and thus you see it even less on the 308 due to the cartridge not needing it or? I've often wondered about this but was not sure, I guess even with that Im a bit surprised that its common because if its available on the upper, why not take advantage of it? As far as specifics on thew BCG, let me see if I can take some pics or something, there are no names or anything on it.
  2. I found somewhere in my junk a new BCG for .308 that has NO bullet assist notches. I realize this is not unheard of but, I'm also trying to find out how good this BCG is or what brand it is to see if its high enough quality to use for a build for just a extra gun to have around. Does the fact that it has no notches suggest that its a lite weight or economy BCG? I've never personally seen an upper 308 without a bullet assist so I'm puzzled by this. Again, any way to determine brand or quality also of this BCG?
  3. So is it a descent piece?. How is the quality?
  4. Not that i doubt anything you said but, How can you tell its a dpms?
  5. Also, what do you guys think of this new captured spring set up for the AR in iieu of the old loose spring and buffer? Any advantages to it and will it work with my set up?
  6. Hey guys, not to hijack the thread but my question is pretty close to what we are talking about. I just bought a 308/20" barrel complete upper with BCG and everything. NO idea what brand it is but it came from 22modsfor all, 15" keymod. I already had a new lower sitting here, a PSA PA-10. So Im trying to combine these together. I am also trying to use a new LUTH Tactical stock I just bought from a guy. I dont have a buffer tube or buffer yet. Not sure which one will work with the LUTH and which one will also work with my mid length upper and the PSA lower. In fact, I dont even know which 308/7.62 magazines will fit this lower. I've heard there were some weird issues with these PSA lowers?
  7. Does anyone know if i bought this guys luth stock for 556, if i changevthe buffer tube, can i use it on my 308 mid length?
  8. Anyone make a fixed stock that is still adjustable fully but does not need to slide in and out. Mine is a mid length gas system 20" barrell. I like the look of a fixed stock but need the adjustment for long range shooting. if I DO have to go with a telescopic stock, who makes one that is falrly priced. Best value for the money?
  9. Guys who makes the best one of these. There are some crappy ones floating around. Anyone make just the bottom shelf that can attach to say a hogue grip?
  10. Ok thanks so much. BUT. Now that i have this PSA, what stock, tube. And buffer do i need to use for the best chance of it working
  11. Im new to this forum and 308/7.62. I have lots of experience with AR .556 platforms. I need some help building my first 308 AR. I read this thread and have some questions. there is much talk of different brands, when piecing one togther from scratch, how do you know what info applies to my build? Mine is a carbine length as far as the gas system. But you guys are referring to the stock and tube in terms of carbine vs rifle use also and I'm confused by that. My lower is a basic PSA-10 and the upper is a DPMS LR 308 Oracle A3. The only thing I am lacking finishing it is the buffer/stock spring assembly. Here is something below that I posted sometime back and never got an answer: "I am confused. I don't understand the buffers from 3oz-7oz which is right? I don't understand the tube length issue and the spring. Does it need a longer or stronger spring?. I'm assuming the normal buffer for a 308 is a longer tube and longer buffer and maybe heavier buffer. It looks like possibly you are able to use a standard length mil spec tube on it IF you use a special spring and short and heavy buffer?? help
