Could Someone Give me Advice on Building My First .308 AR?

Hello there,

Hello there,

I am new to the 308 AR platform and am looking for some advice on building my first rifle. I have been reading through various threads here; and I am impressed with the wealth of knowledge you all have. I was hoping to get some guidance on a few things before I dive into this build.

I have noticed that there are different options between DPMS and Armalite pattern receivers. Are there any significant pros or cons between the two? I want to make sure I’m not limiting my options for parts down the line.

I am aiming for something that can be accurate at around 600 to 800 yards. What barrel length and twist rate would you recommend for this kind of range? I am also unsure about the gas system length should I go mid-length or rifle-length for better reliability?🤔

I have read about certain issues with BCG compatibility when it comes to different manufacturers. Any tips on what to look out for; or should I stick with a complete upper to avoid compatibility issues?🤔

I want to keep this build high quality but budget friendly. Are there any parts that are worth splurging on versus others where I can afford to go a bit cheaper?

Also; I have gone through this post;  https://forum.308ar.com/topic/18943-looking-mlops-for-advice-on-a-first-build/ which definitely helped me out a lot.

Thanks in advance for your help and assistance.😇
