Every time I ask this question most people will give me the difference between the two but not the reason why they would select one over the other. You have done that. Your reason, which is a good one, is the only one I could come up with for selecting the 762 over the 308win. Are there any others? My reason for selecting a 308win over a 762 is that could use both rounds and not be concerned about the higher pressures in the 308win round. I understand that most folks don't have that concern at all. Thanks to all

First of all since I’m new here please let me know if I’m not posting to the correct board for my 308 build questions I purchased a CMMG MK-3 7.62mm lower. I just tried to install a bullet button (I live in Calif) and discovered that it will not work with this lower and I have to use a prince-50 set up. Well I don't want a prince-50 I want to be able to release the mag with a tool, AKA a bullet. I took it to my local gun shop where I'm buying my parts and they were not aware of this but after attempting to install the bullet button themselves, agreed that the way the hole where the mag release button goes is not machined deep enough for the bullet button to work. Has anyone else run into this and if so do you have a fix? The gun shop also tells me that the bullet botton made Raddlock will not either. Any Ideas? If I decide that the CMMG will not work for me, any suggestions on a QUALITY lower that will accept a bullet button. Thanks in advance

Why?? what are the reasons someone would choose a 7.62x51 over a 308win? I mean...... knowing the defference now I would have choose to buy a 308win lower. Am I missing somthing?

Sorry for the mis-step I'm not used to the site yet. I have a DPMS/SR25. Am I OK using a 308win upper? When I started my project I was aware of the two different platforms but I did not know that the 308win was different than the 762 Nato and purchased the 762 Nato. Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and new to gun bulding in general. I have purchased a CMMG lower 7.62x51. I have looked all over for the answer to this question and no matter how I phrase it in a google search I get every answer, but not one to the question I'm asking. Can I use a 308win upper on my 7.62x51 NATO lower? I've got to believe I'm asking a stupid newbe question but I've go to know the answer. Thanks
