Just checked them with a caliper and the barrel is spot on at .750 and the gas block is at .748 ::)
-
Should it be that tight of a fit? I've messed with a couple other ones and they just kinda slid onto the barrel with a little twist while pushing it back.
-
How tight should a low pro gas block be? The Rainier ultramatch calls for a .750 gas block, so I got a Troy .750 low pro gas block. Last night I slide the barrel nut on the barrel and attempted to put the gas block on and it made it maybe 1/8" onto the barrel shoulder. So I threw the barrel in the freezer to see if it would shrink enough to slide it on. Well this morning I attempt to put the gas block on with the barrel fresh out the freezer and it only makes it about 1/4"... I have both the barrel and gas block in the freezer now...

On one of these orders I'm going to get an ar-15 armorers wrench, which from what I've read will work with the Troy barrel nut, I have punches, never needed to use any sort of roll punch starters, and I guess I'll need to get a receiver block along with the armorers wrench. I've got till late October/earler November till the receivers are supposed to come in, so there is still plenty of time to aquire parts and tools for the build.

Alot has changed since the Seabees first came around in WW2, it was a good time, but at times there was more drama then when I was in highschool. I'm sure most branches of the military are like that. My wife is active duty Airforce and she complains about the same thing. Anyway, I went ahead and ordered the chrome DPMS BCG from brownells, I wish it was in stock 3 days ago when I placed my other order that'll be here today...
-
So back on to the BCG's, is there any difference in the DPMS BCG and the one that fultan armory sells? Brownells just got chrome ones in and they are only $15 more than phosphate ones, but the one from Fulton Armory are $30 more than Brownells. The only difference I can see is the bolt carrier key is chrome from FA and phosphate from DPMS...

The only reason I asked about the Cali thing is my wife is active duty airforce and I don't know where I'll end up. I've been looking at the AAC muzzle devices, but I'm not sure which one I want to get. I'm not crazy about the design of their brakes so I guess I'd go with the BRAKEOUT™ 51T Compensator

Also after I do get a suppressor what do I do if I have to move somewhere like California? Can I legally bring one into the state (or any other state that doesn't like them) for an extended period of time?
-
I'm starting to save my pennies to purchase a can and would like to know what everyones, what is the best can that can be shot on .308 and .223? I'm leaning towards the AAC 762-SDN-6. After I decide on what can to get and have enough saved I'll just have to find a good dealer. The local "gun shop"/pawn shop is a joke, full of a bunch of a$$ clowns. Then the wait will start.

All my magpul furniture is black, and I did get the 13.8" high profile TRX. And I've already ordered the UBR, so it's too late to back out of it. I wanted to put one on my AR-15, but put a CTR on it instead. I got it for $201 using a coupon code I got from the forum. I'm not in a huge hurry to get everything in, I still have a 14 week wait on the receivers. Next paycheck I'll probably get a Geissele trigger group, the lower parts that I need (not a whole kit), and the buffer and spring. The check after that I'll get some KAC micro BUIS, smith's vortex flash hider, and a B.A.D.A.S.S. safety selector. Then I'll be on the look out for a BCG. Rainier arms has them in stock right now, but I've already spent this checks play money. I did get the ambi lower, so i shouldn't have to worry about the bolt catch. I have seen the angled fore grips, but I'm going to steal the GG&G bipod off my AR-15 to put on this, I might get an AFG for the 15.

I'm still undecided on the trigger. Am I missing anything on the list to get this thing up and running?
-
Just placed an order with Brownells for a Troy TRX battlerail, midlength gas tube, low pro gas block, and the gas tube roll pin. I was going to order the BCG, but it was out of stick before I could place my order... So now I need LPK BCG Buffer and spring muzzle device BUIS Already ordered/have MATEN reciever set (backordered, 2 weeks down) 18" ultramatch barrel (have) UBR stock (backordered) MIAD grip (have) TRX rail (ordered) gas tube (ordered) gas block (ordered) Am I missing anything?

I'm about to place an order with Brownell's and I've been seriously considering getting a chrome BCG for my MATEN build, but then I thought about it and I've never had a problem with my phosphate BCG in my AR-15. Plus, I'm prior Navy (Seabee to be exact, and if you're not familiar, seabee's are like the bastards of the navy and we get used stuff...) and everything we had was phosphate, hell, 2 years ago I got issued a GM hydramatic A1 that was coverted to an A3. I can't imagine how many of thousands of rounds have been put through those rifle with minimal malfunctions. So, other than chrome is easier to clean, and they're pretty, what other reasons are there to getting one? r should I just get a phosphate BCG?

I have trijicon on my glock and love them, but like 392heminut said, it's the rear sight that is the issue, this is the cut out for it. I'll look into the harrison custom sights.
-
I have a kimber custom target 2 1911 that I want to put night sights on, but I don't want the big target night sights that get in the way of everything. Does anyone have a suggestion on what sights to get? I can get a picture of the slide where the sights sits if no one knows how the slide is with the target sights.

It's an ultramatch!
-
Can someone verify this barrel I got is an ultramatch? I looked on rainier's website but can't find anything. The markings on the barrel say "rainier 41dk3", "LR-308 1-10" I know what that means, then there is "22". And those are the only markings on the barrel...
-
I have a RRA 2 stage in my AR-15 and I'm happy with it, but I'm wanting to see what else is out there. This build is already going to break the bank so I might as well put some money into my trigger, but this is a paycheck build, so I'm going to have to check the for sale ads here and on AR15.com or whatever it is...
-
After I did some research I found that the car-10 xh is what I'm going to use. One day I plan to run a suppressor and they say you want to run the extra heavy buffer for that. I'm also hoping it reduces the recoil enough for my wife to shoot it. I got the barrel, it should be here today. It's the polished one, so after I get it together, depending on how it looks, it might end up getting duracoated. I also priced all the lower parts desperate and not in a kit, since I'm using the MATEN I have to use ar-15 parts. Well it's only going to be $18 for the lower parts... I still need to figure out my trigger.
-
Well I bought the barrel, UBR, and MIAD. Now I just need LPK buffer and spring BCG low pro gas block and tube rail BUIS With a med length gas system what buffer and buffer spring am I going to need?
-
What about the rainier arms ultramatch 18" barrel? I found one for sale and was wondering if it's worth it. I looked at fulton arms, but it looks like for 18" barrels they just have med weight barrels.
-
The only reason I put down the select barrel is b/c their ultra match barrel says "returning soon". Do you have any recommendations on other barrels around the same price as their ultra match? How does the rest of the list look?
-
Ok, here is the list of parts I put together. Let me know if this stuff will work so I can start ordering stuff. UBR stock Troy 13.5" TRX rail Rainier arms select 18" barrel DPMS bolt carrier group MIAD .308 bolt catch low pro gas block and gas tube AR-15 LPK whatever buffer spring and buffer yall suggest

The ETA on the receiver set is 14-16 weeks, so I should have plenty of time to get everything in order before they get here. I know I probably could have got it sooner from somewhere else, but I like the idea of supporting the guys that are willing to help out whatever board I'm on (whether it's guns or trucks).
