  1. Hey another question for yall, What is the difference between mid and rifle length gas systems besides less recoil? Wanted to know if putting an adjustable gas block would make the rifle length pointless. And would it be overkill to go with a rifle length gas system, adj. gas block and a slash's buffer while running suppressed? Read a post where some one stated that slash's buffer is a band aid and an adj. gas block is more of a fix. I enjoy over analyzing thing and finding the best way to confuse every one else ;D Thanks for putting up with me, Jake
  2. So as I'm understanding it, DPMS and Armalite dont like to swim in the same pool. So then my next question is who makes a better gas system? Whats better, gas or gas piston? And whats head space? I can switched the barrel from armalite to dpms and same with the hand guard or switch the Bcg to armalite.

  4. I'm not partial to any gun atm and buying both isn't a bad idea. I was looking at building a gun so my most recent post was about what kind of base I wanted to start with and I was wondering if there are any stocks that feel like the M1A scout stock. - which I just looked up, it had the rubber butt plate. It felt like and inch to two inches of solid rubber. feels a lot better then 1/8th an inch of rubber then solid steel or aluminum.
  5. Ended up at Cabella's before I found anything. Had a sig and a POF couple armalite's, and an m1 . What I think felt the best was the POF P308. The Armalight was an AR-10T with extra's 18 inch barrel, scope, looked like it had the quad rail instead of the standard T rail, with the magpul stock. POF was a standard p308 14.5 inch barrel with the extra 1.6 inch flash hider welded on. M1A was a scout bran new outta the box. the sig looked like a sig716 patrol rifle. Best stock I'd have to go with the M1 scout. Sig or the Armalite grip. But overall the POF was the best. The thinnest gun, it looked so sleek, and it just sat right in my hands, don't know how else to explain it. The trigger was a single stage trigger, which I don't like all to much. The Magpul stock was way to stiff and straight, felt like I was shouldering a brick. The sig and the POF stocks I didn't care much for. But the M1A fit right, had a little give to it with the rubber end and kinda curved to my shoulder. Anything under a 16 inch barrel looks way to short. I'm a rather big guy and holding a really small gun I feel like an idiot(kinda like in MIB when he gives him the noisy cricket :wtf: ). Any suggestions on the stock? see'n how the M1A is kinda un-detachable
  6. Got a couple ranges in town I'ma head out to tomorrow/today w/e (swing shift kills me). See if they have any AR'ish guns I can test. Being my first gun Idk what kind of stock and grip I like, and what weight feels right.
  7. Couple questions, if I build it will I be assembling the gun myself? And I was looking at the armalight sass is there any reason why they only guarantee 1 Moa vs. all the other sass's that guarantee .5 Moa? I'm extremely interested in building it myself from the ground up. Thanks again for all the help Jake
  8. Hey yall I'm new to the form and wanted to start off with I chose this form because as far as I can see its the most un-bias forum I could find. I'm relatively new to the gun market, never owned a gun nor had guns in the house as a kid. I've shot multiple kinds of guns tho, ar's m4's 30-30's n such, but never really got down to any accurate shooting. I did notice tho when I shoot m4's ar 15s I feel like I'm shooting a pee shooter so that's why Ive chosen to buy a 308 as my first rifle. In short I'm looking for a rifle that's accurate and can shoot long range and is reliable in all conditions, seeing as how I live in the state of the rain. Going for a semi auto cauze in this day n age it shoots almost as accurate as a bolt action so why not semi auto? I believe in the saying you get what you pay for so I have no interest in cheap guns. My price range atm is between 2-3 optics and upgrades dont have to come with it right now. suppressor possible would be nice for S n gigs. Good possibility I'll be hunting with it, weight to me isnt a big issue, but I do need it to be resilient - I live in Washington where we take the name of our state literally - so if mud gets on it and god for bid in it, it will still fire with out issue. And if any of you live up in the Washington area and think you can build me a better gun for that price I'm all ears. And off topic that dreadnaught project looks pretty intense. :o Thanks for all the help in advance Jake
