  1. That's exactly what I think I'll end up with. I have been trying to research as much as I can on compensators and so far it's inconclusive. I like the idea of reduced recoil but I read somewhere (and I'm not sure about which comp) that it won't affect accuracy out to 200 yds. Does that mean they do affect accuracy past 200? Or there any comps that are more long range suited than others? I would like this to be a 500 yd setup And I am wondering if I would be better off going target crowned. Once I've got all that figured out all I need is an apex ff tube, lo pro block, geissele or gold( not yet decided), and an ergo grip and I'll be set. Maybe then I'll be satisfied.... Maybe
  2. I have been reading around on here for a while and decided to try and squeeze some more accuracy out of my oracle(mainly a hunting rifle but who doesn't want tiny groups at the range). First on my list is a trigger followed by a stainless fluted barrel with a little more length and a target crown. I emailed dpms and they said neither them nor Remington sell them separately. I guess a custom barrel would be my only option. I guess I'll try a a comp instead of the FH for now and see how that works. Is there any particular model you guys like?
  3. I saw exactly what I think I'm looking for on a r 25 .308 my buddy has. I have had no luck locating just an r25 barrel. Any suggestions on that option?
  4. Something just like that but already crowned and preferably not sass so I could use any gas block. Also would I be able to use any length gas system on this new barrel? Considering my oracle uses a carbine length system. I know I would have to get the appropriate gas tube but would everything else work?
  5. For my oracle I am wanting a longer barrel and ditch the flash hider since it is going to be a hunting rig. I have in mind an 18 or 20 inch fluted stainless and target crowned barrel. I would also like it to be black similar to what it is on my factory barrel. Any ideas where I should look?
  6. I like the vltor and pri but I'm having trouble finding the od of my barrel. Anyone know the od of a 16" 308 heavy barrel? It says heavy instead of bull which confuses me Also would I have to take off my entire barrel to put the gb on? I have a permanent flash hider
  7. I have an oracle 308 with carbine length gas system and a 16" heavy barrel. I really want to get the apex systems 9" mid length handguard. I am looking for a low profile gas block that I can put on myself( easy as possible) and will allow the apex forearm to clear it. There are quite a few out there and I hope some of you might be able to help me narrow down my options. I think the apex has an offset mount and I'm not sure if that will affect my choice
  8. I just purchased a 308 oracle(new height upper), a leupold mark ar 4x12, and Burris pepr mount. I have to wait till Friday to pick it all up. I am trying to track down some info required for leupold to make a custom bullet drop turret and am having no luck. Does anyone know the height of the centerline of bore to rail?
  9. I knew you guys would solve my problems. Thanks. Now on to my next task at hand..
  10. [list type=decimal] [*] [*] Nevermind. Just got an email from midway and their forearm won't line up but in about four weeks they will have one that will.
  11. I think for now I would like to replace the glacier guards with whatever I can put in myself without having to buy any tools. Later on down the road maybe I'll go to a free float. For a scope, I'm looking for something a little more powerful than a 3x9 so I can see those farther targets better. A wide field of view when zoomed out and Mildots or some kind of holdover would be nice. Must be clear and great in low light since it will be my main whitetail rifle. Is there any particular model I should check out? Also what do you suggest for mounts if I'm not running buis? A one piece or just rings? Should I keep it as low as possible? Any and all advice is very appreciated.
  12. I'm really interested in that apex system but the shortest version they have is a 9" mid length. The oracle is a carbine length. This being my first ar platform I'm unsure if it will work or do I have to stick with carbine handguards? I'm not sold on any particular glass as of now but those leupolds caught my eye, especially the ar line. I'm a little out of my element here and VERY open to suggestions. My goal is to have a very solid lightweight hunting rifle with the ability to double as an all day range gun. Like I said never a shot past about 400.
  13. I will be picking up my 308 oracle from cabelas this weekend and i will immediately be looking to change and add a few things. I have been searching for the best handguard for my situation for two weeks with no luck so I thought I would come here. I plan to use my 16" carbine length for hunting and target(mostly hunting) so I am trying to trim the weight. I would also like to be able to add and remove rails when/where I see fit. So my question is who makes the lightest customizable free float tube to fit my newer rail height dpms? Also I am interested in leupold glass in the $4-500 range and I saw cabelas has many on sale. Any advice on glass and mounts for a hunting rifle with no buis? I don't plan on ever shooting past 400 yards
