  1. For some reason I didn't have it completely squared up at first, it was nearly a foot off to the left at 25 yards.
  2. Finally able to post pics.
  3. Ok she's all put together, finally. Rainier 16" barrel, with a Troy 13.8" MRF .308 handguard. Shaved 3 inches and 3.5 pounds off.
  4. Canceled my order with Troy, and got it off of another site for cheaper (with 2 day air UPS). Rifle is now put together, and at the gunsmith for head spacing.
  5. Well, I called them today. They said they are two weeks out.
  6. Well they seem to have cancelled my order. At least the charge disappeared from my card.
  7. Well I broke down and bought the Troy MRF, now come on UPS!
  8. Thanks. I'm not sure total weight, but the thing has a 22" heavy barrel right now, but I've got a Rainier Arms 16" select to replace it. Which is quite a bit lighter, I think just the barrel swap is going to knock 4 or 5 pounds off. That's just roughing it anyway.
  9. Ok, I think I have myself talked into the Troy. The DD's cost is turning me away, and the extras I'd have to buy. I guess the game changer would be the weight. I haven't been able to find a weight on the MRF but I think the DD weighs around 1.2 lbs. Does anybody know the specs on the MRF?
  10. I've got a DPMS LR-308 Classic, but I'm going through an overhaul on it. I'm going for shorter and lighter.
  11. Cool deal. One thing I'm having trouble figuring out about the Troy, is weather or not you need the front delta flange (or whatever it's called) on the gas block. I assume not since that would negate it being a free float handguard.
  12. What are you guru's opinions on one and two piece handguards? I'm looking at either a Troy MRF 308 or a DD 7.62 lite rail. I'm a little suspect on the two piece design of the Troy, but it's cheaper and I don't have to buy a barrel nut and a special tool.
  13. I got my barrel finally, now I need to get on the rest of it. I've got a question though. Do I need a .308 specific barrel nut wrench, to take my old barrel off? It's the standard DPMS LR-308 barrel nut with a delta ring.
  14. Yeah, apparently it's a dominant trait. I let him breed my bitch dog, that's kinda dun colored, and out of 8 pups 5 were brindle. If I could get somebody to print his pattern on some fabric, it would make wicked camo.
  15. Thanks. I have a brindle dog, that can vanish in plain sight, I was trying for that.
  16. This is what my boomstick looks like before. I rattle canned a paint job on it when I first got it, so I wouldn't shy away from carrying it in my work pickup. I'd kind of like to strip it, then repaint later. Will mineral spirits hurt it at all?
  17. I've got all the stuff to start reloading except a bench. I'm basically just gonna reload milspec, quantity over quality I guess.
  18. Yeah, this is a forum for a very hungry and very expensive beast to feed. Actually more expensive than feeding a horse.
  19. Does anybody want to make a charitable donation of ammo? You can deduct it from your taxes :P
  20. Do you know somewhere that sells practice? ;D
  21. My problem is, I'm not a sub moa shooter. Especially with a scope, for some reason irons and red dots work better for me.
  22. Cool deal, thanks.
  23. Thank you. I guess I'm wanting My LR to by a little lighter, and more easily managed. As is stands now, it's just to damned heavy and cumbersome. I intend on using it to hunt and a WSHTF main stick. Since I'm not a good long range shooter (400 yrds plus), I don't want a tacticool, space shuttle door gunner approved behemoth of a rifle.
  24. To finish it off I'm going to go with a DD 7.62 12" Lite Rail, Spikes Tactical Dynacomp, and a Magpul ACS stock. Again, am I headed in the right direction?
  25. OK, so will I run into headspace problems then?
