Thanks for the links. Looks to be what I have been searching for. Cheers,

Both. Something that I can grab for a short trip to the range, hunting, etc. I can find a number that are for the 5.56, but not for 7.62x51mm. Thanks for your help. SantaDee

Seems most have only for 5.56/233 ammo mags. Does anyone have good leads or experience with any advice? Looking for lightweight, strong for quick grab and go or for hunting out in the field. I would like to have individual mag pockets if possible. Thanks...SantaDee

Here is what the Daniel Defense website states: The new DD5V1 is a groundbreaking, performance-driven platform engineered from muzzle to buttstock. Incorporating over a decade of expertise from industry-leading Daniel Defense engineers and designers, the DD5V1 establishes a whole new standard in the .308 platform. With innovative features like a 4-bolt connection system utilizing a unique barrel extension, an optimized upper receiver, an improved bolt carrier group, ambidextrous controls, a configurable modular charging handle, and a cold-hammer-forged barrel, the DD5V1—although built around a traditional AR platform— establishes a new tradition in 7.62 rifles. It also features a Geissele SSA two-stage trigger for precise fire control. Even with all of these features, plus a DD Superior Suppression Device and 15” Picatinny top rail, the DD5V1 weighs only 8.3 lbs. The new DD5V1 will be sure to deliver the accuracy, reliability, and durability expected from Daniel Defense. 16" Strength-2-Weight Cold Hammer Forged Barrel for optimal stiffness/weight ratio, improving accuracy and handling Innovative 4-bolt connection system utilizing a unique barrel extension securely attaches free-floating CHF barrel and KeyMod handguard mounts securely to upper without barrel nut Bolt and carrier designed with oversized cam pin, enhanced extractor geometry, and dual ejectors Ambidextrous safety selector, magazine catch, bolt release, and configurable modular charging handle Lower receiver features integral oversized trigger guard and flared magazine well for SR-25 type magazines Geissele SSA 2-Stage Trigger with its smooth 2.5 lb take-up and clean 2 lb break

Stripped down the DD and my Armalite - both have 16" barrels. Overall length goes to the Armalite. Weight for the DD is 9.2 lb. Weight for Armalite is 10.4 lbs ( both include BUIS, and rail panel protection, and each have a handstops) The biggest noteworthy change is the overall diameter of the hand guard diameter. The DD is 6.125" vs the Armalite (Larue Tactical 9.0) is 8.125". With my medium to small hands, the Daniel Defense Slim rail, creates a superior left hand grip for me,

Heck, neither do I!!! I had to start somewheres. Testing in progress!! LOL , Yes It is a stock QD mount.

Count on it. May get to the range today. Pics are the easy part. Weight, with no ammo/scope/Dueck Defense RTS Sights/sling/etc, the website says 8.3 lbs. It is light, much lighter than my AR10 ( has 16" SS though).

I read some reviews and had a DD M4v9 LW and really like the slim rail. Found the DD5V1 nearby and decided to buy it and see how it compared with my Armalites. So far, it is lighter and easier to handle. The recoil of a 168gr is not bad as what one would think with a light weight rifle. Anyone else buy one of these yet? Cheers,

Abit late, well maybe 9 months anyway. I picked mine up and instantly love it. Just got an old scope and DD Rapid Transition sights on it. The slim hand guard does heat up after 15-20 rounds, so you need gloves or get a rail panel kit. After looking at different styles and costs of rail panels, I went with Bravo Co, and they do just fine. Recoil is tolerable. Not wicked, but felt. The price is something we all deal with. I feel it is worth the money paid.

I like it too! What do you think of the Burris scope so far?
-
Wacked out weather <laughs> - Over in Midland, Texas, their annual rainfall is about 14-15 inches, heck they have had about 19 inches of snow so far. Not all at once, but 3-5 inchest per storm.....Crazy. Got a note from Slash and the buffer is on the way....

Do you use shooting gloves all the time or just some of the time?

I think you may have hit the hard sport, so to speak. My new ar10 came with a LaRue Piccaney quad, and although I have not shot it yet, I know that left hand is gonna feel some possible scrappin from the quad. In the past, I have never used gloves at all. BUt maybe I will use a set just for the ar10. Maybe not. I think I will get a set or two, just so they will be there, just in case... sort of like insurance or spare parts.. <thumbsup> SD -
I do not use them at all, but I am seriously thinking that I may start. I am looking at just bench shooting for now and can imagine that it would help in several different areas. One, is that my hands may not get as tired. More strength to control the recoil. Out in the field, it may be different and so maybe not use gloves. Is that true, or not? Thanks SantaDee

Thanks Unforgiven from Indiana! How the weather up there? Houston gettin cold tonight, maybe 42! I ordered a heavy buffer from Slash. Anyone use these buffers? SantaDee
