  1. Just a couple of my other rifles that my .308AR is going to join when I get home. Remington 1903A3, built in 1943, overhauled at RRA in 1967. I have the shipping box from the rebuild. I bought this while deployed, so I haven't shot her yet. And my first rifle purchase, a HRA M1, built in '55, original barrel, springfield bolt. The pictures are with my dad's and my little brother's, all bought the same day at the Camp Perry store. [img width=810 height=607]http://www.redheep.net/images/Garand/DSCF3520.jpg My experience with the M16A2, A4 and the M4 got me interested in an AR platform, but shooting my first .30-06 made me want a little more than the 5.56 round.
  2. Hey Gents, Just wanted to stick my nose in here and say hello. I'm planning on building on a Mega receiver set when I get home. I'm not a stranger to the AR platform (a few trips to a USMC rifle range the past few years :) ) but I'm certainly no armorer either. I have a lot of questions and Dave has been trying to help me through the email, but I figured I could bother you guys just as much. These are the things I've decided on so far: MA-10 Upper/Lower receiver set DPMS SASS 18" barrel and gas block JP Ent VTAC handguard DPMS Chrome BCG I want the rifle to be a good shooter, but I'm not made of money. A lot of the tax free monies I've put away has gone towards paying off a lot of bills at home, so I'm working with my $1500 veterans bonus from Ohio and whatever I can pry away from my jeep fund. So I'm leaning towards relatively stock parts for the lower parts kit and the other items I'd need to finish up. I like the MagPul UBR, but I might go initially with the DPMS A2 stock kit since it comes with the buffer parts already. I'm open for suggestions. I've plugged prices into my spreadsheet with some options and I can stay under the budget if I spend good money on what's important and save the rest for an upgrade later. Thanks Josh
  3. Thanks guys. I'm already learning and putting the list together.
  4. Gents, Just wanted to say hello. I'm an active duty GySgt out on a deployment with the 22d MEU. I started looking at AR's as something to add to my collection when I got home and one of the guys on pirate4x4 suggested your site. Coincidentally, I was looking for a Mega dealer that was relatively close to me and emailed Dave Branson completely on accident, before realizing that he was also associated with your site. Hopefully if everything goes well (i.e. the wife approves) I'll be building a MA-10 based AR when I get home in January. Josh
