  1. I just ordered an aluminum one from Armalite for $80 they charge $40 for EACH 1913 rail though... I have an older AR10 T so already have the FF forearm but mine's carbon fiber.
  2. cool, thanks when I get the Daniel defense one I might be looking to sell the original one. quick question, I see the longest barrel Armalite has now is 20" mine's a 24" barrel, why did they drop the 24"? please understand, I'm new to the ar thing. I've owned many ak's so this thing is strange to me! :P
  3. I have a Daniel defense forearm on order to replace the stock one. is that something worth selling too?
  4. yip, not far at all! there was a nice gun shop just after the big arch bridge coming into westfield. can't remember the store name or even what route that is but I know it's shortly after coming DOWN the mountain into westfield. and back to the topic, fired 10 rounds of the Federal 168 with no fte. think that was the problem. ps, anyone interested in a magpul prs stock?? got one, don't care for it.
  5. just over the mountain in the Berkshires. Otis area.
  6. well, seeing as how it hasn't gotten above 9 degrees here in MA. I think I'll skip the range and just take a few shots in the yard to see what it does.
  7. Hoppe's 9 oil. used it all my life with no problems. mechanically, everything seems fine with the rifle so the cheap ammo was my first guess.
  8. okay, bought 40 rounds of Federal premium gold medal match 168g bthp and 40 of PRVI Partizan match bthp 168g (was a little cheaper) going to the range today to test it out, I'll let you all know if this works. thanks again for the help!
  9. thanks all, you've been a big help. and one of the first things I did when this started to happen was fire a round after I took the mag out. it still pinched the brass, so I know it's not the mag. I'll hit the gun shop this weekend and grab a few different brands of 7.62 in 168 grain and see what happens.
  10. thank you very much! I was thinking ammo was the problem seeing as how the rifle appears to be mechanically sound. I've viewed the pdf. manual at Armalite but could only find one for the A1 and A2 not the T model. I'll pick up some good ammo this weekend and give it a shot. thanks again, Jon
  11. hello everybody! so I'm new to the AR platform in general and just picked up a used Armalite AR10 T about 2 weeks ago. seems to be a first gen model with the old mag and a 24" black barrel. paid $925 for it at a friends gun shop and bought 80 rounds of Winchester fmj bt 145 grain ammo. first 10 rounds shot, 3 cases got slammed in the bolt when ejecting. it didn't short stroke because there was a live round being chambered everytime it failed to fully eject. cleaned the rifle, and fired 3 rounds the next day. all 3 also failed to fully clear the bolt and got slammed. next weekend, 2 out of 3 got hit by the closing bolt!! all of the empties are aiming nose out and pinched about 1/4" from the base. could this be the ammo? or do I have more serious problems?? it ejects fine by hand but not when shooting! any input would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks
