It would seem that all brakes are going to be loud by nature. I understand not using ear protection while hunting, I do it quite a bit. That being said I went to a concert the other week and couldn't sleep afterwards bc my ears were ringing so loud. So it's definitely time to make some changes...

Ok, I got off the phone with Fulton a few minutes ago. The wait time has increased from 3/4 weeks from when I originally ordered my upper to 4/6 weeks now that 4 weeks has elapsed. >:( However, in this time I picked up some Troy battle sights and some ladder type rail covers.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought this thread could use an update. I received my armalite lpk and stock/buffer/receiver extension/etc. The bolt release from armalite doesn't want to fit and I still need the screw for it so I ordered a dpms lpk kit from midway last night. BTW if anyone is looking for a lpk kit midway has them listed for a lot cheaper than any one else right now. I should have a complete lower and pics in about a week or so...

Ok, so I decided to order an Armalite LPK with the upgraded trigger as well as receiver extension/buttstock stuff. It seems like a good way to save a couple bucks on shipping etc...That weaver scope looks pretty good...Also I reload so I am pretty well covered in the ammo category or will be after I collect some brass. Does anyone out there run that fulton service rifle upper? is it going to compare well to the RRA barrel?

Gentlemen, Here are my current conclusions on this build. I am going to get a geiselle trigger, the SSA-E model listed for AR-15's. Daniel defense looks like it is out of lpk's, also they don't have one listed without a trigger. I would rather not pay for a trigger that I am never going to use. Can anyone recommend a heavy duty lpk that might not include a trigger? Also, the Fulton Armory M110 service rifle upper looks like it will suit my needs. As far as the receiver extension, I am looking at rifle length stuff. I read somewhere on here that armalite buffer springs are the best, are they worth ordering on their own? Optics budget is less than 500, and can anyone recommend some quality iron sights? Happy Shooting

Ok, so here are my current plans/questions. I am going to get a DPMS lpk minus the trigger, but what trigger should I use? I was leaning toward one of the triggers that come as a complete unit, but if the geisele is better maybe I should use it??? Also I am most likely going to buy a complete upper, should I just go with DPMS or is there something better(no offense) that will fit just as well? Oh and what tools do I absolutely need(I have a good selection of normal handtools)? Thanks for the quick feedback Wash!

Hello Gentlemen, This is my first post here, so please go easy on me. I just purchased a stripped DPMS LR-308 lower. This is my first AR build and the objective is to build a rifle that will out shoot my buddies recently acquired RRA Predator. Particularly I would like your recommendations for a lower parts kit, trigger, and possibly a complete upper assembly (I have a little money to play with but don't want to break the bank)...Thanks in advance. Also please don't hesitate to point me towards old posts that would be pertinent.
