I am thinking of selling a complete upper assembly. Never fired!! DPMS .308/7.62 upper reciever. DPMS Black B.C.G. Rainier Arms Ultra-Match, 16", 1x10 twist, SS barrel JP V-Tac, Mid length FF Hand Guard with upper rail. Rainier Arms low pro. gas block. AAC 51t Breakout flash hider/muzzle break. DPMS gas tube. Magpul CTS, OD green mil-spec butstock. Without buffer tube assembly. I have roughtly $1,200 invested in it so far 'conservativly'. I do not want to peice it out. So if you are interested or know someone who is, make an offer. it is assembled "finger tight" just to check all alignments. -

New to AR and lookin' at DPMS Recon 308
Medic1 replied to Medic1's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Hey all and the late posters, thanks for the input but with the supply and demand issues with just about all affordable 7.62/.308's, I decided to build one. I did go with the DPMS brand upper and soon to be lower. I've got the entire upper assembled and like I said waiting on lower. It has a Rainier Arms 16" Ultra-Match, 1:10 twist 6 groove, which is aight cause I will be shooting mostly 150 g ammo, mod-gas system, I got the mid-length JP FF hand guards with the rails, and I put the AAC Brake-out flash hider/compensater/muzzle brake. 51t. I'll be posting some pics as soon as it gets fully put together. should be a sweet rifle. The weight of the upper is at 6.25ish lbs right now so it will be carry friendly. <thumbsup> -
I'm working on a build, i used the dpms upper and the Rainier Ultra-match 16" barrel. They suggested to me to use thier gas block for fiting issues, so I got thier lo-pro gas block that is spec.ed @ .750. It fit perfectly. and thier barrels are for mid-length gas systems which I read on here, and was told it would have a "smoother" action to it. I'm a noobie on here but I have the same set-up and it works out awsome as far as the fit of all the parts. i even like the JP FF handguards. I put all of it together with no tools "just to check the fit of parts" in no time. finger tightened. Its fully assembled now and waiting "on the funds" for the lower.

I did a Google search and read all really good reviews, That one of the reasons I chose them to get my parts,,And they had the exact specs I wanted for my barrel.. 16" mid gas, 1:10 twist rate, plus the matching of the bolt. The UltraMatched barrel is reviewed as a very accurate barrel, and the weight aint to bad @ 2lbs and 7 ozs. I was just getting a little anxious, I odered it all mid day thursday and I live in Mississippi so hopefully sometime this week. I'm also lookin' foward to the JP Vtac handguard... I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas <munch>

I've got just about the whole upper reciever ordered from Rainier Arms,,16" mid gas .308 ultramatched barrel,,BCG,,with them matched/headspaced, magpul ctr butstock etc. etc.. Has anyone ordered anything like that from Rainier and could give me a review on their delivery time. I ordered other stuff from midwayusa Gas tube, aac brakeout, etc.and it already has a tracking number and will be here Monday It's just a curiosity ? that I don't want to annoy the people at rainier with. Thanks.

OK. I'm getting all the final details ready to order, checking in stock and prices etc., I'm looking at the two DPMS uppers, 308-FTT-EA1. that weighs 1.10 lb., And 308-FTT-LW1 that weighs 1lb flat and is about 40-60 $'s more. Heres the ? is that 1 tenth of a pound really worth it? Its gonna have a 16" barrel, light weight stock etc. Basicly all I want to know is it worth the extra dollars to get the light weight? Thanks to all..

Can't find in stock,,Build it.
Medic1 replied to Medic1's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I'll mount a bi-pod when shooting from a bench or what not, and a vert. grip at other times, I mainly just like the way for ways look, gives a agresive look. I want free float for sure for the increased accuracy. I will deff. check those two places out that was mentioned. -

New to AR and lookin' at DPMS Recon 308
Medic1 replied to Medic1's topic in DPMS Panther Arms LR-308 | Bushmaster 308
Yep, Those are the ones I narrowed down to,, Ended up between the Armalite carbine and the DPMS, I liked the Armalite since I think that was the maker of the M-16A2 but after I shoped for the extras, quad rail hand guards, trigger, magpul adj. stock, flip up sights, flash suppresor, etc. I could get the Recon and save some cash for the optics and ammo. I just looked at La Rue tact., looked nice but they are proud of their stuff, bout 3k for what I'm lookin for there. -

My budget will be around 1,500 for the platform and optics added to that, I just have to decide on the rifle before I can think about the x'tras. -

I looked at the remingtons, I just bought the 700 sps camo in the 270 cal. with a leupold vx3 4x14 cds scope, 0'ed it with 4 shots and has a 1/4-1/2 inch groups @ 100 and 200 yards, The R-25 lead me to the DPMS because it will take the mags on the LR308's. now that I know that 16" barrel is good is DPMS products a good quality product? Durable, rugid, dependable in just about all conditions, freezing temps. rain, sleet, snow etc.? -
I'm brand new to AR platforms outside of the M16A2 I used in bootcamp,A.I.T, and the N.G. years ago. I know I want a .308 to have a double used gun in targets and hunting whitetails, I want it short and lite for quick throws and quick targeting and ablility to carry through haevy brush. Max. distance I'll be shooting is 300 maybe 400 yards, 200 max at deer. I'm looking at the DPMS .308 Recon and the 3G1 with a 18" barrel. extra 2 inches is the only reason Im lookin at the 3G1. Is the 16" barrel gonna have enough to maintain speed and energy for game hunting and quick kills? Is DPMS a good brand to go with,?I'll probably never fire more than 800-1000 rounds. I like that the recon has just about all the options I'm lookin for, free float barrel, quad rails, flat top, ss barrel, magpul stock etc. already together off the shelf..all and any feedback will be apriciated.
