Thanks for the info everyone. Im not opposed to using 243 or 260, but that was not my target. (I've used 243 for a number of years and have some left over ammo. I switched to 308 for more punch during hunting season and availability of better and less expensive factory ammo.) My target is a 16" 308 Win barrel for my G2. Again, to my knowledge there are only a few aftermarket barrel makers for the G2 pattern to start with. At the moment, I have been unable to locate an off the shelf barrel in 16 inch. ( No, I have not called any barrel makers to feel out the custom barrel cost. I'll take the hit on that one.) Thus, my original request. If you know of anyone that swapped a G2 Recon barrel and it has been mothballed in their closet, I would be willing to make an offer on it. I saw a post not too long ago where someone swapped a recon barrel. Thanks again.

It will be going on a DPMS G2 rifle. SO, Yes, it would need to be compatible with the DPMS G2. I cannot seem to find another 16" barrel for the platform that are OTS. Rainier does not show a 16" on their website and custom barrels are out of the budget right now.

Anyone have a G2 Recon (308) barrel that they want to part ways with? Im looking to add a suppressor to my hunter, but want a shorter barrel.

I'm learning as I go here. Thanks for the inputs everyone. The Magpul page is not real clear unless the gen1 and gen2 lowers are the same. I love my gen2 hunter ,but some of the oddities are not real clear to figure if your AR background is not very strong.

Can someone tell me which Magpul MIAD grip fits the DPMS 308 gen 2?

I have half of the puzzle. Does someone have one they can measure? I have read that the JPI recoil system is not compatible with the Gen 2 rifles. The assumption is that the rod diameter is too large for the opening in the BCG. Can someone confirm?

I'm new to the forum and somewhat new to the AR platform. I have not yet built a rifle, but want to at some point. I bought a LR308 Gen 2 Hunter last year and love it. Although I like the rifle, I'm not a fan of the recoil spring twang. With the JPI and Armaspec captured spring systems out there for large frame 308 and AR-15 platforms, the technology certainly exists to fix this issue So, has anyone integrated one of these systems into a DPMS Gen 2 308? If so, what modifications (if any) are needed?
