  1. My son has been waiting on dpms for his bolt for 3 months. Anyone know where we can get one now? Tired of being patient
  2. we have a fulton armory barrel....does that make a difference?
  3. Can anyone answer that or point me to the thread? I did a search and didnt find anything and i know there are compatability issues.
  4. Ok, continuing with barrel questions. We have a jp long muzzle break. Of coarse it doesnt match up. So we either need a crush washer, lock nut, or machine the back of the break down. Now I have heard that since the barrel thread is 5/8x24 and it is .925 that the crush washer and peel washer are not an option. So what are my options? I think machining the back down would be sweet, but I dont know anyone that can do that.
  5. Thanks for the info. the jp is a 308 5/8 x24? i think. Nice looking piece. He just ordered the free float High 4 free float rail. WE are trying to get this done before Obama becomes the dictator he wants to be.
  6. Ok, I purchased a 18.5 inch SS 1/10 twist Fulton barrel for my sons dpms 308. He got it for xmas. I need to send it to someone here locally to check the head space. My question is this. What parts do I need to affix the barrel to the reciever? Is it just a locking nut? I also got him a JP muzzle break and I kind of have the same question. I have been reading about crush washers, shims, etc and I want the best and safest way to get this done. Thx guys.
  7. LOL Getting rid of things with Great Prejudice is one of the joys of life!
  8. So I am new to this "twist" technology. What kid of difference r we talking comparing the 22" 1/12 to a 20" 1/10
  9. I am not sure about exactly what TWIST we should have. We will be varmint hunting, medium game, and target shooting, along with the occasional Zombie LOL. Here is the info on this barrel. What type of ammo are we looking at working best with this twist? Barrel, 22", .308 AR, Heavy Weight, 1x12, Stainless, Threaded, Match Quality, FA by Criterion
  10. That was my impression considering the cost. Thx.
  11. My son has picked out a Futon Armory 22' SS threaded barrel for his mostly DMPS 308. He has the DPMS upper and lower. Any opinions on this particular barrel and any possible suggestions on any other type of barrel brand?
  12. You were right i installed the spring and detent and we are good to go. Thanks for the help
  13. Wow thanks for that info that helps a lot. I think for congruency sake I'll stay dpms parts as much as possible. It is expensive enough as it is. I am very glad I found this forum it is a great resourse. I searched throug the pics in another thread and found a pic of the detent and spring behind the buffer. good forum
  14. Are the detent and spring 308 specific or does it matter? .223
  15. Thx for the welcome everyone. We have the rifle length magpul prs type stock that has the adjustable cheek and back plate. I called brown ells and they gave me the parts numbers for the tube buffer and spring. We got the dpms lower with the parts kits installed but no detent and spring. That is what I needed I think.
  16. I am a complete newbie to AR's but i am building a dpms 308 lr for my 14 yr old son. I have purchased so far the upper, lower, trigger kit, new grip, and a magpul stock. I ordered from Brownells the long buffer, buffer tube and spring. Currently nothing holds the buffer and spring in the tube. Will the bolt assembly permanently hold the buffer in the stock to provide the force to move the bolt or am I missing a part? I know this might be a retarded question but I come from pistols and none of my group shoot AR's so I have no guidance. Thx
