  1. Sorry, a little late on this but I had the same problem. Turns out the PA10 lower build kit I got from PSA had an AR15 spring and buffer, I contacted them and they sent out a heavy buffer and a 308 spring. My gun works great now but it sure was a trying experience to work out the problems. Jon
  2. Well, another update on the PA 10 upper I started the thread with. I ended up stripping the PSA upper and using a DPMS upper and finished the build. The PSA bolt, barrel and hand guard are all compatible with the DPMS upper and it functions great now. The 16 inch barrel makes the gun as easy to handle as an AR15. I like it now despite all the hassles...anyone looking for a PSA PA10 stripped upper? <thumbsup> Jon
  3. I don't have any pictures, sorry, I'll see what I can do. I probably don't know the right term but on the lower where the buffer tube screws in, the top shelf was too high and hit the charging handle. I probably cut at least two thousands off to get the charging handle to move freely. I bought the complete PSA PA10 lower build kit for my TM stripped lower. The supplied take down pin and the pivot pin are AR15 items not the longer DPMS pins and the bolt catch is the AR15 style. After careful examining the upper I found the bolt sits closer to the lower with this upper and when I put the magazine in it hung up on the mag lips and the reason the bolt catch doesn't work is that when you close up the gun the upper has a wider section there that pushes out the top of the bolt lock/release out to hold it in the locked position. The parts kit came with the roll pin to pin the catch/release on the outside of the lower like a AR15 not the recessed one with a screw pin like on the DPMS style. I have both types of guns here so I can compare. Jon
  4. Hi, I got my PSA PA10 upper a few days ago and I also planned on using a DPMS lower. After doing some fitting work, a lot I had to cut down the top of the buffer tube screw in to get the charging handle to clear, I got them mated and ran into the same problem with the bolt catch. If you take the bolt catch out you can cycle the bolt but put a mag in the gun and the bolt carrier drags on the lips of the mag and jambs. I've came to the conclusion that the PSA is a hi-bread AR15 just stretched and the upper and lower are mostly proprietary to each other. I might just get a DPMS upper and use all the parts. Jon
  5. Probably sold out of them, they keep track of inventory pretty good. I looked today and you're right no listing now for the upper.
  6. Thanks for the comments and welcome. I also ordered their PA 10 lower build kit to build up my TM 10 lower so I'll put some pictures when it's done. Jon
  7. Yes, I thought it was a smoking deal. PSA's AR15 uppers are quite nice so I expect their 308 barrels to be equally as nice, AFAIK FA makes their barrels. I do like the look of the long free float hand guard, Jon
  8. Hi guys, I've been a PSA fan for a few years and last year when they announced they'd be adding ar10's I said I'd build one. Well today they put complete PA10, 308 DPMS style uppers on sale and I ordered one on the spot. I will update when I get it and try it out, can't wait. Jon
  9. I have found the FA to be excellent anchoring the rear of my shell catcher. I us the cheap one that Velcro's over the barrel but on AR15s it always slipped after while but anchored on the 308 FA it never moves. I save all my brass so I love it. Jon
  10. Thanks for the warm welcome! Yup, I love riding the back roads around here. Jon
  11. :)) Jon here, just joined the best forum on the net. I'm another old guy, grew up on the farm in North Dakota been shooting and hunting my entire life. I'm retired now and live in the mountains around Tehachapi, Ca. I've got a few bolt rifles and a couple M1 Grands and always wanted a M14. When this 80% thing started going I got interested and when I found an AR10 80% I built me a 308. I've been shooting it all summer and am a convert. Look forward to learning more and getting to know you guys. Jon
