  1. So I'm pretty much done running the break in on the barrell with my dpms lightweight hunter. I wasnt so sure up to this point I was happy with it and I think the barrel would get fouled quick at first but know I'm super happy with it. I was shooting cheapo monarch 150 grain soft points and shooting off bags using a nikon prostaf 5 2.5-10 bdc with nikon mounts. The two stage trigger was just a bit stiff on break at first too but I smoothed the surfaces just a tad and now I am happy with it. I had three shots virtually same hole at 100 yds. Pretty pleased with it and my shooting. Here is a pic of my target. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e227/thegoaty03/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsa0c0efaf.jpg
  2. for educations sake , an A2 buffer tube is shorter than a carbine buffer tube?
  3. the description onthe sight its on sale at does say carbine stock.I was hoping it would work as it was a good deal, thanks
  4. I have the dpms lightwieght hunter lr308 and it has the a2 stock on it . I found a good deal on the magpul mag480 fixed carbine stock. i would like to use that stock but dont know if it will work with the a2 tube. the standard a2 tube does have a spacer at the end of it so maybe that can be taken out and the magpul stock would work. Also I assume the dpms a2 stock tube is comercial size , is this correct?
  5. Hmm , ok. I'll try that, it's not their fault but maybe they will be feeling generous.
  6. Yes brand new factory rifle. I did email dpms and they responded with a number to call amost immediately and said they will take care of it. I would fix it myself bug it has that epoxied/riveted carbon fiber free float tube. Inconvenient but they are willing to fix it no questions asked. This is the same rifle that buds guns dicked me around on with the wrong description and wouldn't do anything about it but return it. Seems like this gun is doomed. Eh it'll work out
  7. I just picked up my dpms 308 lightweight hunter after much debating if I really wanted that model and the carbon fiber free float tube is a little loose. It seems like it rotates just a tiny bit left or right. It feels like the only thing stopping it from rotating is the gas tube. Is this normal? i have no experience with free float tubes on ar related firearms , so forgive me if i just dont know, but I think it's not right.
  8. It's not the ffl's fault , they are just the delivery destination. I ordered directly through buds guns and off their web site the description was different from what is now available and haven't corrected their website even after bringing this to their attention. It does eat at me that they are relatively Indifferent about it and just say their prices are so low already they have no room to make anymore adjustments and they will be happy to refund it for a full return.
  9. I believe it was also offered in the 20" with a miculek compensator and that was the description they had for it in the buds description. Yes in 2012 they did reconfigure it as stated on the dpms website but I had hoped to get some new old stock. I thought that configuration was perfect, but the 18 would have been better but is never advertised anywhere.
  10. Not a threaded barrel on the hunter model. one of the only reason I was contemplating the recon but at a full pound heavier even with a 16" barrel. I think I'll skip it , not really wanting the tactical look. I'm just worried that the lightweight 20" will barrel whip like a noodle. I think it'll be fine for hunting and some bench shooting / plinking.
  11. The one in the description is not in production anymore , I guess 2012 they reconfigured it and it lost the compensator and the skeletonized stock. Buds hasn't changed their description and says it's unavailable in the old version as listed in the description , so I guess it doesn't really matter, it's close enough to what I want. Just upset since they know they messed up and unwilling to compensate for their error.
  12. No, I mean that the rifle is 1150 then add the 250 or so and if bf at 1500
  13. Ha that's funny, the guy at my ffl showed me I think an AAC shorty comp that he said work well for the size , the only issue is I still have to have the barrel threaded. Between the threading and compensator I could really have just built a custom gun the way I wanted , that's why the I left it at the ffl for like two weeks , trying to decide what I wanted to do.
  14. Yes ordered the rifle and came like that , yes the stock is no biggie, I'm actually happier with the standard a2 stock that isn't skeletonized. I'm bent that it didn't come with a compensator like advertised.
