Have been shooting since the age of two. Always enjoyed it. Joined the Air Force at 19. Got out after the First Gulf War. Been a Mechanic and now a Auto tech. I am at the time in my life I am upgrading to the finer things in life. Pulled away from my M1A and now venturing in the AR10 world.

  1. Well, I have 5 new M1A mags. The dual purpose mags are more expensive than just the AR10B mags. Doesn't make to much sense since I don't have a M1A anymore. Edited to ad. Well. Mod'd one mag. It seems to cycle by hand. Nice and tight. Once I test fire it. I will do the rest of them. That means I have another 5 mags. Guess I won't worry about the mag issue then.
  2. OK, what I see is. It shouldn't be hard to do a little cutting on my M1A mags. Since, I have traded my M1A for the AR10. Seems like it is ment to be. Instead of doing some crazy measuring. Trim the tab on the back of the mag. Take out the mag catch. Insert mew mag. Use a scribe to transfer area to be cut. Check position of actual mag. Should be ok. Bolt hold open. If I figure out a solution. I will post it. Will have to wait till I have free time. Being an adult sucks sometimes.
  3. I will send them an email and ask the cost. Then make the choice. Money wise the Armalite mags are not that bad in pricing. I about eight M14 mags. To bad I can't mod them to work. Just be easier to see if I can sell them and then use the money on the AR10. It will be a couple months before I get a trigger set. Have to get through Christmas.
  4. First range trip. It ate everything I gave it. Including some 125 grain ammo I loaded just for a bolt gun. I also switched over to frog lube. Only spent about 1/4 of the time cleaning. The bad. The trigger has to much creep. It has a military trigger feel. I topped it off with a Elite 4200. What is a less expensive trigger option? I have a ten and twenty five round mags. Odd seeing a M14 mag that long. I have been reading when I can to learn what I can. Came across that I can send it back to Armalite and have the mag well modified to a A so it accepts the new mags. Is this a good option or not? The also have a custom AR from a local shop. It take 308 pmags. Would be nice to use one kind of mag. All told. I like it. Sorry pic is upside down...
  5. Shout out from Canton.
  6. Handguard was an upgrade by the prior owner. I have the OEM round set in the box. The pistol grip and trigger guard is magpul as well. GG&G flip up night sites. Removable carry handle with front sight. I was just concerned about the two holes with threads. Thinking maybe it was supposed to have set screws in it. Got my custom one back tonight. Have to clean that again. Oh, wait. I will take it out this weekend. So I can put some rounds out from the Armalite. I'm just guessing. But seeings I found zero lube in the AR 10 or the AR15. That they didn't function well. Reason for the trade for my M1A. The beeter AR15 has a New Frontier lower. Plastic... I will shoot it and see what happens. Worse case. The Smith and Wesson M&P upper will slap on one of the two other lowers I have. I am at the point of. I'm done. I can't think of another firearm I want. Between AR's and AK's. I am set for anything. Plenty of food for them.
  7. Does this look right?
  8. Here is a couple pics of the Armalite and one of the custom. Forgot I took one when I got it. Anyone ID the Armalite model?
  9. I will post pics once I get the Armalite back together. Had to drop off the custom back to the shop. They left the barrel loose. Sure makes me confident about that build. Thankfully I can handle anything else myself. I want to research the Armalite. The model isnt marked on it. But pics will help.lol
  10. Not new to the AR platform. Just picked up(two weeks ago) a custom TTA 10 (custom from a local shop)and tonight traded my M1A for an Armalite AR10 plus a beeter AR15. Both are soaking froglube. Prior had both dry.... some minor rust spots on flash hider. Two threaded holes on the side of the gas block are not pretty. Looking forward to getting these rifles up and running. Been lurking here a bit and figured I would join in.
