I went with the 18" barrel on my PA-10. My Ruger Gunsite Scout has an 18" barrel and it's not unwieldy at all (most of my bolt-action rifles have 22"-24" barrels, with a few 26" and 27" thrown in). mbogo

I should have my PA-10 upper (18" SS barrel) today (I already have the PA-10 lower). I hope to prep it (clean and lubricate, mount a scope, etc.) and take it to the range Wednesday. mbogo

Turning the turrets to their stops will put your shots way off paper. What I like to do with any new scope is to set the windage and elevation knobs to the center of adjustment. I turn the knob all the way clockwise while counting the clicks; then I turn all the way counter-clockwise and count the clicks again, Then I move it back half as many clicks. mbogo
