  1. yeah, i know. i feel the same way. got a heck of deal on this at a show last year.
  2. ok, i guess i should have done my homework before buying this rifle. i did not look at that aspect of this rifle when i bought it.
  3. hey guys, are there any manufacturers out there producing a mag of their own that will work in an Armalite 10B? Magpul has told me in no uncertain terms that they have no plans on producing an Armalite 10B mag. sick of paying $30 for Armalite mags. Brownells is the same thing. why will no one produce a plastic mag for these?
  4. calibrate it every time before i use it w/ the 2 50g weights they give you. i`m sure there is no problem with the scale. i just think the manual is a little gun shy lawyer wise! at 2550 to 2,600 fps, which is the velocity i`m getting, @ that weight,( 43.0 grs. of 4895 ) i`m have no over pressure signs at all.

    ar10 pet loads

just finished my chrono on my attempt to relicate the mil. standard 7.62x51( 168gr. bthp ) c.o.l. of 2.800 i got line from in here on using 41.5grs of imr-4895. fps was to be 2,550+,- 20. i`m using a rcbs chrg. master combo to dispense powder. after careful calibration, and using the above data it took me til 43.0 grs. of imr 4895 to reach 2,550fps. my rifle to fire these is an armalite w/ 16in bbl. this may be why it took 2 extra grs. to get to 2,550. but i saw no evidence of over pressure. next, i`m going to make a few of these to check for accuracy. if no good, next i`ll try some re-15. sierra book says i believe 40.4 grs to reach 2,500 & 42.0 to get to 2,600fps. the later is their accuracy load. let you know.
  6. i just started to make a few w/ re-15. got data from the sierra manual. (sierra match 168gr. bthp) if i`m not mistaken, 42.0grs. is their accuracy load. (2,600fps. ) soon as i get some time i`m going to crony them.( just bought a new magnetospeed v.3) i did however crony some using imr-4895. 41.5grs. is supposed to be the perfered load. it is to give you around 2,550fps +,- 20. but, using my rcbs Charge Master electronic throw-scale combo, 41.5 only gave me an avg. of 2,430. had to go up to 43grs to get to 2,550. no pressure signs at all. and i was using L.C. brass so i was aware of the thicker brass & the posssble higher pressures using l.c. brass. had no idea the charge master was that "un-accurate". will make me re-think now some of my other data i have accumulated over the years.
  7. i just went ahead and bought the acss 4-14 hud also. i have not used or mounted it yet but it seems very well thought out and while i`ll agree about the brightness,( i also have an M-scope) i cant tell that big a difference. i`m like you, we will see how it holds up to 7.62 -.308 loads. but was told by the reps i will be taken care of if anything goes amiss with the scope!
  8. black ring? i read something about this somewhere else. is this a paralex thing? please explain. i did not have any eye related issues w/ the m223
  9. thats what i like about the nikon m-series, no dials to mess with if your using the bullet]its intended for. but i will take a closer look at the ACSS.

    ar10 pet loads

that load looks nice sisco! thanks all for your replies. going to try several diff. powders & powder weights as i always do. will keep posted. as stated before, still very cold here in pa. so it will be sometime. i don`t do any load trials until its constantly in the 70`s.
  11. do you like the primary arms scope? tell me the particulars of it that you like. i believe i just got an email form them and these were on sale.
  12. hello, just joined this sight and i`m trying to get some good, positive info. i just bought a new ar10(armalite of course!) looking to buy a good optic. just to start, i have a couple of ar15`s w/ m-223`s on them and i am totally impressed with them. very clear & bright glass & i really like the BDC ret. to that end, do you guy`s like the m-308? i`m so used to the BDC and like the way it works for me, i don`t want to change to another brand unless you think the m308 is not that good on top of the ar10. price is the main reason i like the m-series.( i can`t & won`t buy $700 to 1k or more scope) for the price, it does all i need it to do. hoping i could get some insight from m-308 users. thanks!

    ar10 pet loads

thank you. been doing that for the past hour or so
  14. hello guys, i just bought a new ar10 a month ago. its my first 7.62x51 ever. looking for your best pet loads. i`m only using 168gr sierra match bullets. i have these powders available on my bench: blc2, h-335, tac, h-4895, imr 4895, re 15, cfe 223, imr 8208xbr & ar comp. only using nato brass. i have thousansd of large rifle primers but only 1 or 2 k of lg. magnum primers. asking you guys for a few pet loads with what i`ll be using. thank yo ufor your time!
  15. thanks for the heads up. but i`ll pass on just 1. any reason why magpul didn`t put forth the effort w/ a 10b mag? do they think there is not enough of them out there?! one more thing while i got you guy`s attention, i `ve been doing my own reloading for all my 5.56 stuff and other weapons i have. being this is my first 308, i`ll be doing this too. is there a tech section in this site for reloaders? interested in anyone`s data they may have. using strickly 168gr match bullets, nato brass, and either imr 4895, reloader 15 or blc2. unless someone else has had better results w/ some other powder. & cci lg rifle primers. ( not sure about magnum primers though) step in if you like! thanks guys! i found the reloading section under ammunition. i`ll move this stuff there.
  16. i as much figured. hey, while i`m on the questions of "what i may need", what do you guys think of the the CS flatwire recoil spring? i plan on putting a super 3g trigger or gold trigger in this in the future. i also just purchased a Lantac Dragon brake. was thinking the spring might just be a nice compliment for it. was looking at this so i could get the quickest, fastest & "on-target" follow up shots possible. what do you think?
  17. hello fellows, i just introduced myself in the " new guys" place. i`ve been a long standing paying member in ar15.com ( if i can do that here, please tell me what to do to contribute!) as a new owner of an ar10 ( just bought 4 wks ago ) i have come to find out that pmag, does not have any mags for the 10b type. since in order to shoot this a lot, i need some mags. i have two gen2 20 rd. armalite mags but i am going to require a whole lot more. are there any manufacturers other than brownells & armalite where i can get some. not that i don`t want to buy from brownells, i spend about 200-600 $ from them a year. but i really like the non-metal type mags like pmag. thanks for your help guys. i`m sure this was a million repeat post but i just wanted a quick answer.
  18. just bought my first ar10 about 4 wks ago. still plenty cold here so i have not done a lot with it. awesome so far, but i am having a little trouble finding a.m. mags. thought for sure pmag would have some. have for the 10a but none for 10b. anyhow, been ar and f/a guys for going on 30 yrs. seems funny i just got one of these. looking forward to discussing a lot with you!
