Got her to the range with the new spring...Shot without an issue...Woooohoooooooo Now to find an accurate e load it likes
-
Well said! These big boys are a whole new process for me for sure.. Thanks

Hmmm I used a DPMS Receiver Extension, DPMS Stock...Heck, I bought the whole thing as a DPMS Kit. So, just not having DPMS receiver set was the issue...Wow...tons to lean for sure! I wasn't really blaming them and if I did...opppsss

Well Got the upper back from mega and the new buffer spring they sent along.....98Z was on the right track I think. The new spring Diameter was .072 as opposed to the DPMS 308 spring I had that was...get ready for this...082 wire diameter. No wonder my freakin bolt would not lock back. At first I thought the 308 spring Mega sent me was too lite so I found this diagram and noticed .072 dia is right on track. WTF is DPMS thinking putting such a heavy spring in that stock kit they sell. After doing some snooping here I found a few other people having the same issue and all had that Damn DPMS .082 dia spring. and it has 38 coils. I have not test fired yet but I'm almost positive that was the issue. Now, to make another upper in 6.5 creedmoor....hmmmm where to get a barrel???
-
I'll look into those. I need to know what the big difference is between the 34 and 38 coil...I'll check spring wire thickness when I get the one from Mega

I have a DPMS buffer spring and buffer for my Mega Arms Mahten build. Been having issues with the BCG not locking back on last round with gas block opened wide open. I also thought I had a pretty rough chamber so gave Mega Arms a call and they said send them the upper. Just got done talking to them and they replaced the barrel for me, did all the work etc and test fired on the Lower they have..All is well. After some conversation they said they think I'm using the wrong Buffer Spring Like I mentioned I'm using the 38 coil DPMS spring. The lower they have is using a 34 coil spring and thats what they think the issue was. I guess after all that I did some research and it seems the AR-10 buff spring is 34 coils and the DPMS is 38 coils. Should I be using the 34 coil spring? My spring is 38 coils 12 1/2" long relaxed Buffer is 5 1/4 long. They are also sending me a 34 coil spring and said give it a try. Could using the lighter spring cause any damage? I also have a Adj gas block. This would be hilarious if this was the root of all my problems. Good news is Mega caught the rough chamber and replaced it free of charge and did all the work on the upper. Kudos to Mega Arms BTW, all full length rifle stock and tube MAgpul PRS stock

Its funny, when it did that fail to lock back one time with the factory ammo..I took it apart lubed the bolt and fired a bunch more without issue.
-
I do have some 335 I also went to a local place and bought some 150 gr sst projo
-
no 150's laying around but I have a butt load of 125 gr sst for the blackout I could use....
-
Of the rifle? Or chamber....LOL
-
No 4895 but could get some I'm sure I have some RE-15 I really think the fact that it's a new build..Stiff like and the lighter loads is all contributing to this.
-
I'm going to put together another load and try again. From some other readings I've concluded my load is on the lighter side. I'm gonna juice it up a bit and see what happens. I may even give Mega Arms a call. When my brass comes out of that chamber it's looking a bit rough. I wish I had a bore scope. Chamber seems on the rough side.
-
Cant see the first image very well, can you make it bigger. 2nd one explains it pretty well. Do you think just the hotness of the primer could make that difference in failure to lock back. Seems like it would. I did notice the factory ammo was for sure snappier than my loads
-
Holy Crap, then my 175 load aint too far off. I wonder if that primer makes that much of a difference.
-
Outstanding Thanks Mike

I need to be on the prowl for other types...I'm not real fond of the CCi's

CCI 200

I did not replace..They were all Rifle parts...Or, Rifle length parts...Buffer, spring had an A2 stock.

So, went to the range again today with a box of Fed GM 168gr Fired without a problem...Tried one of my reloads...Fail to lock back. Had one fail to lock back on the factory so I re-lubed up the BCG etc and no problems. Hell, I even shut the gas block down by half and the Factory Fed GM still functioned...Loaded up 5 rounds and all fired without a hitch..Pretty Stoked. Bad thing..WTF is up with my reloads? Gotta be something on the powder burn rate or the heavier bullets are not as snappy as the Fed Gmm. When I shut the gas block down half way I about poop myself when the Fed Gmm still functioned. So, I think my build is fine....I think my build needs broken in...LOL I think my reloads has an issue and can't figure what..I have a sneaking suspicion it my be be only bumping the brass back 3 thou and its not brass originally from my rifle...hmmmmmmm Bet it is. I'd like to think I don't need small base dies? I'l scoot the die down a little bit more so it cams over on the ram. Barley bumping the ram now.
