  1. Can you use the same buffer and spring?
  2. Haven't done any accuracy tests yet. Been too busy lately. New litter of puppies. Will try to remember when I get back to the range. Finally got the scope mounted where I can see out of it. Went from medium rings to high rings to high rings with a half inch riser.
  3. Thanks for the offer, but not quite ready to get started yet. Is the 8.5 twist the most common twist rate?
  4. Thanks for the info. It will be valuable. Are the magazines the same?
  5. I finished my first 308ar recently and I'm quite happy with it. It took my quite a while to build.since I'm a novice and had to do a lot of reading. It was a struggle but thanks to you guys and some other blogs, i got through it. Now I would like to build a 6.5 CM upper. What parts are different from the 308? What parts are the same? My 308 is a DPMS style and I am assuming that an upper will go right on the 308 lower.
  6. Good news. I lubed it up real good and it worked fine. Had 9 shots left in the box. It went through all 9 with no problems. Thanks for the help. I'll still be getting more magazines. Should I still round off the edge of the ejector just for reliability or not worry about it. Can you buy them like that? Great help guys.
  7. I'm going to order another magazine. Do you have any suggestions for a brand or size?
  8. My ejector is square. If this is the problem, I can put seven rounds instead of six in the magazine (or some odd number) and then it would jam after the first round. Does that sound logical? It would put the second round on the ejector side.
  9. Here are some answers. The barrel is a Faxon 20 inch heavy fluted. The bcg is AIM. The upper is DPMS. The lower is Modulus 80 pct. The gas block is a fixed Faxon. The magazine is a Magpul 10 round. I loaded 6 rounds and kept it loaded at 6. I will get another mag to try it out. I did not lube the bcg much. I will try lubing it real good. The cases are ejecting properly. The jam is from the third round not feeding. I will try another mag with a lot of lube. If it still doesn't work, I'll get a picture of the jam. Thanks for your suggestions. Hopefully one of them will work. I'll also check out the older threads. It just seems weird to me that it is always the third round that jams.
  10. I finally finished my first 308 AR and finally got to shoot it. It works great for the first two shots but the third always jams. At least it is consistent. I load the first by using the release lever and letting the rifle load it. The second works fine, but then the third jams. I'm sure some of you experts know what the problem is. Help.
  11. They were Clymer gauges
  12. Sent the barrel and bcg to Faxon. They checked it and said it was good to go. They asked if the go/nogo was a "match" set. The packaging said that it was so I returned them. Don't know what the difference is between match and not match. Maybe someone that knows about this stuff can explain. Anyway, I finally got it put together and fired a few rounds. Every thing seemed to work fine. Now I will add a scope to see how it shoots. Thanks to Faxon for their help.
  13. Just heard from Faxon. It sounds like they will take care of the problem (whatever it is). Waiting to hear about the next step.
  14. I thought I was done. I got the barrel a couple days ago and was ready to finish. When I tested the head space, the bolt closed on the NoGo. Today I borrowed my friends bcg and the same thing happened. I emailed Faxon, but have not heard back from them. The barrel is the 20", Heavy Fluted, .308 WIN, Rifle-Length, 416-R Stainless Steel QPQ. The web page says DPMS LR-308. The bcg is Aim Surplus AIM .308/7.62x51 BDG NiB Bolt Carrier Group. Their web page says DPMS pattern. Since this is my first 308 build, I'm totally confused. I am now assuming that I need a different bcg. Any thoughts?
  15. COBrien, thanks for the offer. I'm ready to order so I'll talk to the people at FA about the wrench. I don't want to spend $60 for their wrench. I'll wait until I get the handguard and see if mine will work. If not I'll accept your offer.
