  1. Thanks to all that replied. Your tips and suggestions have helped me make a much more informed decision as to my choice. Primary Arms it will be! At least until I can afford something like an ACOG. Thanks again to everyone. Keep your head on the 360.
  2. Thanks for the info. Robocop1051. Everyone kept telling me "you have to get a FFP scope and just couldn't afford the high cost of one right now. Good information to know.
  3. Looking at a Monstrum Tactical 1-6x24 FFP scope for a 5.56. It has and etched reticle, is illuminated, locking turrets, zero reset 30mm tube and is 1/2 MOA. Wanted to know if anyone has used one? Looking at putting one on a patrol rifle but seems to be a fairly new scope that has come out because I haven't been able to find any reviews on it. If anyone knows anything about it please let me know.
  4. Hope this is the right place to start this question. I have a DPMS AR 10, .308. I plan to use this weapon in a Law Enforcement capacity. Have been happy with the purchase of this weapon to date, (had it about 8 mo. now). My problem is, I screwed up and bought the wrong scope. I purchased a SightMark 2.5-10x32 Triple Duty that is in the 2nd FOCAL PLANE. I have since learned that I should have gone with a FFP scope. I plan to use a MilDot reticle. After looking at the many options of FFP scopes I have learned that I don't have the $1,000 dollars or more to purchase one at this time (Deputies don't make a lot of money). I know that the scope's true milradian value is set at 10x. How will this work with close range shots and how close can a 10x scope setting be used? This is a scope that I will have to use for a while until I can afford the proper scope needed. I would also appreciate knowing what would be a good scope to purchase when I can afford to make that transition. Oh, using a 168gr. BTHP Hornady. Thanks for all comments and suggestions in advance.
  5. Thanks Toolndie, I really appreciate the info. You guy's have been great and I appreciate all the help. I will let you know how it comes out.
  6. Thanks Rsquared, I appreciate the info and the welcome. I love this site because it covers everything especially 308. Not many sites cover things about the LR 308's. I now have a new problem, I am not sure if I did it right or not but when I got my new quad rail from Monstrum Tactical I put the barrel nut on and torqued it to 30# and then backed off, doing this 3 times the reset it at 30# and started trying to fit my gas tube after each movement of the barrel nut which I moved up in 5# increments all the way up to 80# and never got my gas tube to go all the way through to the receiver of the gun. Now I am kind of at a loss. Not sure if I did it wrong or have another problem. Is there a certain way or end of the barrel nut that must go on first? or do I have the wrong set up? Not sure if I should put shim's in or what size? Could go on with the what if's. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. I have a DPMS LR .308 and I am trying to find a list of torque spec's for it. If anyone could direct me as to where I may locate these spec's it would be greatly appreciated. Looking specifically for barrel nut, buffer tube lock nut and flash suppressor spec's. Thanks to all in advance.
  8. Thanks "blue109" and "mrmackc" for your help. I like having options available to chose from. I have been looking at many options and I am trying to make an informed decision on my choice and the information you have provided has helped me out. Thanks again
  9. I have just bought my first AR in .308. I have the DPMS Oracle and I also have noticed that the gas block is lower than the main rail, It is a flat top. I have already bought my reflex site and want to co-witness a good set of iron sights with it. I like the Magpul MBUIS sights but not sure the front sight will fit due to the lower gas block height. Could someone please help me out as to what would be a good set of iron sights to put on my rifle. This will be used for law enforcement purpose's also. Thanks for any help I can get.
