JohnnyChingas007 replied to JohnnyChingas007's topic in Building a .308AR
Thank you sir!!! Proud of myself picking everything out. I went with the sig because I got it for $550 OTD when it retails at $750. From your experience what grain of round do you recommend for this setup? -
FIRST AR 308 OPTIC 4 THIS DUMMY... ???

Might be... It looks exactly the same... So Fed Match 168g??? -
Hello Community!!! Well I have switched out a few parts and here and there for this build. I would like some feedback as to what type of ammo I should run on rifle. I just picked up the Sig Sauer Tango 4 3-12x42mm MRAD Illuminated Reticle scope. Sig is going to make me some free Sig Ballistic Turrets for me but I really don't know which ammo to use for this build. My initial thought was to run the Federal 168g. I just wanted some feedback and recommendations. Thank you all and all input is appreciated. God bless!!! Here is the list of parts so you can have an idea what I am using... 18" 308 Faxon Heavy Fluted Mid Length Barrel 308 Mechforce Muzzle Brake .750 SLR Sentry 7 Adjustable Gas Block Mid Length Black Nitride Gas Tube Rubber City Armory 308 Nitride BCG Geissele SSA-E Trigger Group XLR Industries Tactical Carbine Stock JP 308 Silent Captured Buffer/Spring Sig Tango 4 3-12x42mm MRAD Illuminated Reticle

It's an illuminated MRAD Reticle. It looks really cool also but I have yet to hear anything about these scopes. The guy at the shop said he can get it for me for $600. He said that their warranty is exactly like Vortex lifetime unconditional. He showed me the PST 4-16 MRAD and I liked it also. He said that the SIG is exact quality and its performance is identical. He said I couldn't go wrong with either one. Please let me know if you are familiar with their scopes. Once again thank you so much for all your input!!! God Bless!!!

Wow... Thank you both so very much for all of that information and I truly appreciate your advice. You have put me in a different train of thought and it makes more sense to me now. So Vortex PST 2.5-10 or Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9 is the way to go right? How much did you pay for that Vortex PST 4-16 btw? What was your experience with it? Would you recommend it if I can find a open box on eBay? I don't know if it's true or not but I have read somewhere that Leupolds quality has gone down over the years also. Also that it's made now in China as before it was made here in the US correct? I was looking at the Vortex VX-R Patrol 4-12x50mm and found a few on eBay running for about the same price. If you both can give me your insights and opinions I would appreciate it more than you know... Thank you!!! Thank you!!! Thank you!!! ALL for all your help and opinions!!! I love this forum site for the genuine people that take the time to help out others that are in need of guidance... God bless you all!!!

Hello Community!!! So I am almost finished with my rifle and I am now looking to purchase a optic... Yikes!!! So this is what I have now: JL Billet DPMS Platform AR 308 18" Mid-Length Gas System... I'm being torn apart by these two optics. I really like these two scopes from the reviews I have read and the illuminated for features. One is a red dot and the other is a green dot. Both lifetime warranties and both very reputable companies. It's the Leupold AR MOD1 3-9x40mm TMR and the Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44mm EBR MRAD. From the reviews I have read both are good scopes but I know I might have to get new turrets to accommodate the .308. They are both about the same price and like most, I'm on a budget with a $500 range. I want to be able to go out to possibly 600 to maybe 800 yards with either of these scopes. Would like to know what everyone's opinion is of these two scopes and what you would recommend for my build. I am fairly new to the gun world so any feedback is much appreciated... Okay so I read another discussion about this topic and I am hoping I am getting response but the thread is really old so who knows. My thoughts are to run a Armalite Ar10 Carbine Buffer Spring or modified 308 carbine spring from Heavy Buffers on Brownells. You have been a great help already but I was wondering if this will work. Please let me know your thoughts... Buffer tube and weight question
JohnnyChingas007 replied to RoadW3's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I apologize for responding years later on this topic discussion but I need help... I am purchasing a XLR Industries Tactical Stock to go on my DPMS AR308 18" Mid Length Gas build with an adjustable gas block. I was wondering if you can advise me on how to build it as I really don't want this thing to blow up in my face... My thoughts were to purchase a Primary Weapon Systems .308 Buffer and a Armalite AR-10 Buffer Spring. The buffer weighs 4.1 oz. would this configuration work well together? Please let me know as I would really appreciate any positive feedback... Here are the links to what I was thinking of purchasing. http://primaryweapons.com/store/product/pws-mod-2-buffers/ https://xlrindustries.com/collections/buttstocks/products/tactical-butt-stock http://www.primaryarms.com/armea1095/p/armea1095/ Thank you so much and God Bless...?? -

Awesome thank you. I believe it is. I emailed XLR if it's compatible with the AR 308 Platform but still waiting to hear back. As far as the buffer goes, what is the best buffer? I was looking at the PWS H2 Buffer with Carbine Spring. Will that work? -

FIRST AR 308 BUILD 4 THIS DUMMY???
JohnnyChingas007 replied to JohnnyChingas007's topic in Building a .308AR
HELP NEEDED ON FIRST AR 308!!! I just picked up a XLR Industries Tactical Stock for my first AR308 Build and I have questions on if it will function properly. I have a list of parts and I would appreciate your feedback if I'm doing something wrong or if the layout is even going to work okay. After reading several reviews I know that a Rifle Length Stock would probably work best buying really don't like the options I have seen out there. I want this thing for a combo of somewhat longer range but yet still be able to use in closer quarters... Is there a way I can get it to function correctly with Mid-Length Gas System/Carbine Stock? Which Buffer and Spring Setup would work best? Here is the list of parts: JL Billet Upper/Lower Match Set JL Billet 15" Angle Cut Low Profile Rail 18" 308 Faxon Heavy Fluted Barrel .308 Mechforce Muzzle Brake .750 SLR Sentry 7 Adjustable Gas Block Mid Length Black Nitride Gas Tube Rubber City Armory 308 Nitride BCG Geissele SSA-E Trigger Group & of course The XLR Industries Tactical Stock which is Carbine Stock... Please let me know if I am doing this correctly as I don't want this thing to brake on me first day out... Thanks and God Bless!!! -
