Looking at the Windham Weaponry AR10 platforms.. was wondering what they are patterned in..Armalite? DPMS? Was looking at SW MP10 but they have to many proprietary things on it and evidently people cant upgrade hardly anything since its following its OWN pattern rather than something else. yeah, i've looked at RRA and for what you get, it's a little pricier.. if I'm not mistaken, a lot of their stuff is proprietary so it's not easily interchangeable. I'd like to change things like the trigger, and anything else I could upgrade. Windham Weaponry has decent prices and if I'm not mistaken, lifetime warranty.

still would use a bipod or something to that effect. most of the times with friends, were still..not moving. it isnt often we are walking a long way.

im not going to be walking around with it hunting like you see some of these guys doing. It would be strictly in a stand or something to that effect. Spoke to the wife and she isnt opposed to me looking at an SW MP10 which would be amazing. that would be a step up from the DPMS for sure. I'm not new to guns by any stretch what so ever. I've owned 556 and the like. When it comes to deer, yote, hog, etc..thats where my knowlesdge falls off. I've lived and hunted in alaska but not old enough to go moose, elk, hunting.

Thank you for the warm welcome! Thats all ive ever heard about their complete rifles. id like to upgrade the barrel to a 18 or 20 since the ultimate goal is to hunt deer, hog, etc.i think in the long run, itll pay itself off in the amount of food my family will enjoy.

First off, hello everyone.. i've been hunting most of my life which started in alaska shooting squirrels with a .22lr and has progressed to dove, duck and the like. One thing i haven't done as much as i like is hog hunting, deer hunting, and things bigger than deer.. The more i research "AR-10" type platforms (yes, i know AR implies Armalite) the more i keep coming across the DPMS LR-308 which ive seen as low as like 750 or so. it throws me off because most of the "10's" you see are well over 1200 dollars (like the S&W MP10)..So i guess i cant decide whether DPMS makes a quality firearm or not..and if they don't, are the parts to upgrade, fix, etc plentiful enough to enjoy this purchase? I also plan to pair it with an ATN X-Sight ll HD.. Thoughts?
