  1. Okay thanks, don't need your help I guess I'm in the wrong forum see ya assholes! Oh did I mention, go and fornicate yourself?
  2. Here's my new and improved boolit design (not yet tested). Now in the Accurate Molds catalog 45-360 H
  3. I have a barrel extension/feed ramp question for you guys. As you may or may not know, the feed ramp for the 45 raptor is located in the magazine and consists of an aluminum block with feed grooves machined in and doubles as a spacer as the coal is shorter than the .308. The rest of the mag is basically standard DPMS .308. Anyhow, I've been noticing small dings in the upper 1/4 of the case. The spacing on the dings corresponds precisely with the sharp edges of the aft sections of the barrel extension/locking lugs. I'm wondering how much smoothing over of the back side would be okay? I'm thinking if I could dremmel down the sharp edges on the back it would take care of that problem and go easier on my expensive brass. Hopefully this makes sense.
  4. I already mentioned my project in another thread. Working on a big bore (45 Raptor) AR-10 This is my latest project and is proving challenging to say the least. I've been covering a lot of unexplored territory I think including boolits of my own design. (First one a fail). Also, oh boy, thank God the AR-10 is a powerful strong platform or I'd have blown my gun up by now. I should show y'all some of the case heads I was getting. Probably pressures in excess of 70,000 lbs! Making progress though and am up against a few final details I'd like to iron out. Hopefully I can glean some info off this site and perhaps get a few of you guys interested in trying to go the big bore route. Other projects I've been involved in is working cast boolit loads for the .300 black out, .38 short colt, .357 magnum and 30-06. I'm big league into revos and lever guns, but don't do the cowboy action stuff. Also into extreme range shooting and occasionally show up at F-class matches where I usually do poorly. I cast my own boolits and usually coat with Harbor Freight red powder coat in lieu of other lubes. I find this is much more effective at preventing leading at higher velocities. I've come here to share my experiences and hopefully pick up a few answers to questions I have.
  5. I did a search and did not find anything on this topic. I'm currently in the process of load development for my Aero-Precision AR-10 Huge learning curve, btw as I have decided to go on an unconventional path by using heavy cast boolits. I have been making progress but not without a lot of drama. Right now I'm using a 400 gr Lead Flat Nose boolit powder coated. Not ideal as the meplat is a little wide and occasionally hits hard on the mouth of the barrel extension. I am going to have a custom mold made with a smaller meplat and truncated cone design to hopefully eliminate this problem. I have not done any chrono testing yet, but am thinking about doing that today. If anyone has any experience with, or interest in this please pipe in. The photo I've attaches shows the 45 raptor compared to 30-06, 357 mag and 38 short colt. The boolit picture was my first attempt, did not work out as the ogive interfered with the throat. Also pictured it the boolit I'm currently using, and the modifications I plan.
