  1. Ok, got the problem resolved. I hate to admit it but it turned out to be something very simply and stupid on my part. I either didn't put in the disconnect spring or it fell out during installation. After my first shot the hammer was never captured thus it was down and that is why I couldn't pull the trigger on the second round. As far as the bolt sticking, it has loosened up since I re-adjusted the gas tube. I took it out after putting in the spring and it worked perfectly. Feeling a bit stupid but happy it wasn't anything more serious (like a barrel problem) I just thought I'd share since you guys had tried to help out. Thanks again and happy shooting
  2. My upper is an Aero Precision AR10 308. The BCG is a Toolcraft Nickel Boron 308 DPMS Bolt Carrier Group. It's supposed to be milspec. I bought the BCG from a dealer on Gun Broker. The barrel I bought in an auction on Gun Broker. It isn't marked with a manufacturer and it was fairly inexpensive but it was described as DPMS compliant. Since I posted the question I did take it all apart to check everything. I noticed when I did the BCG pulled out of the barrel pretty hard at first, sort of like it was doing after I fired it. I disassembled it, cleaned it and checked it over. I all looked good, Re-lubed it too. I cleaned up the barrel where the bolt slids in too although it really wasn't dirty but brushed it real well to make sure there wasn't something in there that may have been caused it to bind. I also make sure nothing was binding on the gas tube too. Right now it's back together and is sliding in and out easily. It all seems good. I am going to try again in the morning. If anyone up still up and wanting to suggest something to try I'm all ears. Anything will help. Oh, one other thing. Not sure on the head space question other than to say I bought all parts separately so there was no manufacturer matching the BCG up with the barrel. Thanks
  3. I just completed an AR10 308 build and shot it for the first time today. It did not go well and I'm at a loss and looking for some help. Here's what happened. The first shot went off and ejected the empty. On the second pull of the trigger it didn't pull (as if the trigger was stuck) When I tried to pull the charge handle back to eject the new round it pulled back about 3/8's of an inch and stopped. I opened the rear release pin and tried again. With a much harder pull on the charge handle it did come out, it was like it was jammed or stuck in the one spot and then came out easily once past that point. Before I pulled it out, I was able to push the handle and BCG back in but when I tried to pull it back out it still stuck. AND here's what really troubles me. The live round had a lite firing pin mark in the primer although I was never able to pull the trigger for a second shot. Somehow the firing pin struck the primer when it fired and reloaded. I tried a second time with a different brand of ammo but the same thing occurred. Any and all suggestions please!!!
  4. Got it on but wasn't easy. Lube didn't work. Ended up having to slowly grind inside of the HG with a Dremel and sand it smooth.. It took 3 times before it started to slip on. Even then, I had to tap it into place. Definitely nice and tight Thanks for the suggestions
  5. On my AR10 build I've got a DPMS barrel nut and a slide on Aero Precision free float hand guard. The fit is very tight, the hand guard only slides over the barrel nut maybe 1/8 of an inch before getting tight. I'm worried if I force it I may not get it all the way in place before getting too tight to move it or align the screws. (it needs to go forward another inch and a quarter) Has anyone encountered this and if so, do you know of any tricks to loosen things up. I don't think oil or grease are going to solve this, it's really tight. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  6. I've been shopping for a bolt carrier for an AR10 build. For the most part I see prices from $200 to #300 plus. The only time I"ve seen anything cheaper is on GunBroker.com. They have some on "buy it now" for $122, This seems awfully cheap. Does anyone have any experience with some of these cheaper items?? My first inclination is to stay away from them but I'm curious to hear from anyone who has experience with them. Thanks
  7. Hello all. I'm new here and have a question. I am building an 308AR in "dark earth" color. I've got my upper and lower but no other parts. I'm having a hard time finding a source for the grip and hand guard in the dark earth color. Does anyone have a suggestion on who offers a descent selection in colors other than black?? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
