  1. Is that a 2 stage.....or do they offer one for that price?
  2. I just used a pair of needle-nose to hold the pin and a set of regular pliers to push it in. Maybe I got lucky, but it was my first attempt at installing one and I did it in about 2 minutes. Quick and easy.
  3. No lube, other than what was there from the factory. Yeah, I'm an AR rookie. So you think that was likely to be the problem? I'm gonna clean and lube it, then take it back to the range this weekend.
  4. Yeah, it was pretty bad......on the verge of horrific. I was astounded that I was able to get it to group as good as I did. On a different note......it did NOT like feeding the SIerra BTHP bullets. I shot 40 rounds of cheap 147gr FMJ's with no issues. Then I shot 40 rounds of the Sierra Match Kings and had 5 or 6 misfeeds. Any thoughts on that? I wonder if polishing the feed ramp would help?
  5. I finally got my Oracle together and shot it for the first time yesterday. I had read several reviews talking about how bad the factory trigger was, so that was no surprise and I had anticipated ordering an upgrade. On the bright side and despite the crappy trigger, I was still able to pull off a 5 shot group of less than 2" at 200 yards with Federal Premium 168 grain Sierra Match King BTHP's. IMO, not too shabby for a 16" barrel and sketchy trigger. Yeah, I know you typically get what you pay for, but this is a budget build that I really do NOT want to spend $250 for a Timney (etc...), so what is a good "budget" trigger (preferably 2 stage) that won't break the bank? Looking for some options to start the shopping process. Thanks guys.
  6. So can anyone tell me about the length? Is a 15" handrail too long for a 16" barrel? I want it to go as far as possible without interfering with the flash hider or suppressor.
  7. Hey guys. Newbie here. Been hunting and shooting for 45 years but I'm NOT an AR guru and have some questions. I just bought a DPMS Oracle LR308. Haven't received it yet, but I'm already ordering parts to set it up. This rifle is a budget build that I'll carry on my quad to hunt hogs, so I'm NOT gonna dump a bunch of money into it. I'm wanting a full length quad rail or key mod FF guard. Problem is, I'm not sure what will and will not work. I've seen a BUNCHA of cheap stuff on eBay for anywhere from $30 to $80 or so. Yes, I know you get what you pay for, but as I mentioned, this is gonna be a cheap gun that will get beat on and occasionally muddy. As nice as it would be, I'm not gonna buy a $300 MI guard for this weapon. So here come the questions. What do I need to look for as far as fitment goes? What length will go as far out the 16" barrel as possible without interfering with the flash hide and/or probably a suppressor (is 15" too long)? Will I need a low profile gas block? How can I know if the rail is co-witnessed if the seller doesn't list that info? Anything I should look for or stay away from? Sorry for all of the newbie questions, and thanks in advance for your help and advice.
