Pretty much what I thought. Kinda caught me off guard they even mentioned it.

An update of sorts, got an email back from Faxon just outlining my setup to them and asking if there was any glaring mistakes. My gas block is spaced .016” from the shoulder, as I always take measurements to center the ports up. They are telling me to run it right against the shoulder.

Good points. At this point I’m in a bit of a holding pattern since the range I use is pretty much underwater. I’ve installed the KAK extra power extractor springs and ejector spring in the bolt. They were cheap, I figured why not. Also based on what you guys have said the gun still isn’t broken in, gonna throw at least 100 more rounds down range. Current plan is to go back with the gas block wide open and see what happens, maybe even try the restrictions. Who knows, trying is free.

Superlative arms. No, I never did try it on the restricted settings. I should probably just throw a standard block on the thing, I only bought this one because it will end up being suppressed in the future, but not anytime soon.

I was 9 clicks out from max blow by and it still locked back. I’ve since returned it to max flow and am trying to solve the issue before I complicate poop.
-
Can’t argue with that. Strong point.

I’m just trying to educate myself man. I’ve spent a few hours scouring dwell time and gas issues in an effort to be better informed. I’m not doubting your conclusions or advise in any way. It does make me wonder why a reputable barrel manufacturer would build a barrel that way if it’s a known issue. It’s not like it takes extra setup or fixture time to drill the port to a workable spec.
-
I’m curious - would that have the net effect of delivering more gas, sooner, to the gas key? So in effect, my gun is behaving under gassed?
-
I took the bolt apart and both extractor springs and the ejector spring look fine. I’m somewhat stumped at this point. I have springco ‘extra power’ ejector and extractor springs sitting here. Wonder if I should give those a run. Sucks I feel like I’m just throwing parts at it now and hoping for the best, and that’s not how I work on poop.

Okay got it torn down and measured. Port on the barrel is 85thou, port in the block is 125 thou.
-
I have not. I actually forgot that was an area of concern until I went out and shot it again and re read this thread.

Guys bringing this old thread back. I have lubed the poop out of the gun, and ran about 50 more rounds through it, this time using FMJ. I’m still having failure to eject issues, but not as frequently. I’m considering the springco enhanced ejector springs or maybe the KAK Industries double ejector bolt. Thoughts? The rest of the gun is fantastic, id just like for it to run correctly.

I hear ya man. Silencershop had the Deadair Nomad 30 back in stock and I had it all loaded up in the cart. Then I thought about spending almost a grand on something I likely won’t see for 11 months, and I bought more hunting clothes instead lol. I really should get one though, I have five rifles I could use it on.

Just checked their website, it doesn’t say. I could take it apart and put a mic on it to check. I’m somewhat second guessing my choice in running the adjustable gas block, but the long term plan was to run a suppressor so my thought was that was the way to go.

Lol. It used to be a pretty rough town back in the day. It’s actually growing like crazy and the downtown area is seriously nice now. I’ve been here for 20 years and I’ve seen some huge changes in that time. Love my town.

Small world!

FAR. I’m in Kenosha.

Warm as in it was in my house and truck before I got to my buddies place to shoot.

Honestly man I was having the same experience. I kept introducing more and more blow by and it kept locking back but then my focus turned to the ejection issue. Plus my hands were freezing and I forgot gloves so I didn’t get a long test in. Only shot 20 rounds. Gotta love Wisconsin in Jan.

I may have not said this clearly. 4.5 turns IS wide open. Zero turns out is completely restricted, the port is totally closed. 4.5 turns it is functioning like a standard non adjustable gas block. Also, as I said - I had failures at wide open, and failures at blow by settings. It didn’t matter. A couple times it would fail, and I’d load another round without changing anything, and then it would eject.

Okay measured the internal of the receiver extension. 6-15/16th
-
1) No. I know I should have but with a new barrel and new BCG I thought the odds were in my favor and rolled the dice. 2) yes 3) Done and ready for next range trip. I have 200 rounds of FMJ on the way to eliminate variables.
-
Yep, that’s the plan.
-
Well dang. I never thought that would create an issue. I can’t even recall the extension manufacturer, I think I just bought whatever off of Brownells or Ranier. I’ll put a tape on it as soon as I get home.
