  1. What is the difference between a m4 and m5 barrel extension, and does bolt need to match?
  2. It's a dpms out of the box, I've upgraded the rail, the buffer and spring, changed it over to mil spec tube, new stock, tyrant design2 handgrip, and put it under a 4x16x44 vortex Diamondback, really loving the punch, but dam it's costing me a fortune... Lol. But knowledge is power, and I've learned a lot about the AR10 platform. Thanks for the help, really.
  3. Ok, a new moriati arms barrel is in the budget for next Friday, but I'm on a quest now to vet this casing out" i had to cut the receiver in half to get it apart, somehow the bolt got jammed in the extension flanges, and is tighter than God. I wanna know what happened? The rifle shot perfectly 150 shots then bam, my other post tells the story...
  4. So barrels don't automatically have this machined in? Ok, just really looked at my dpms barrel, now I'm understanding it's seperates from the actual barrel, but how? Is it a dowel pin? Can i punch the pin out and Seperate? Bolt and shot casing are still lodged in it.
  5. Since my stuck bolt mishap, i have to basicly rebuild a upper for my LR308 Oracle, my upgrading idea is a fail safe bolt carrier group, a Aero Precision upper receiver, and a stainless steel 308hbar16 barrel. My question is the barrel comes with a barrel extension, what are pros and cons of a extension? I don't want to change gas tube or rail set up.
  6. I'm going to try that, thanks, I'm also going to try to take a small dremal bit and make a edge on bolt cam, and get at it with a chisel punch to turn the groove back in line, hopefully it works, if not cutting the receiver is the only way to get to it. Then to figure out why or how this happened,
  7. Well after hours of banging, oil, twisting, the only thing left to do is cut the upper receiver open and get it out. Dam, 2nd receiver this year, first one had machining flaws,
  8. Twice fired, from same rifle, i never load brass more than 3 times, no matter how well it looks. AOL was 2.173 i shortened it down a smug due to soft point bullets, i usually aol at 2.174 + - .0005
  9. Not sure which brass it is yet, but load was federal match primer, 43grs sw tactical powder, and Hornady spbt 150gr Not a hot load by any means, i usually load 44.5 grs of IMR4046 with 168 Amax without any problems
  10. No live round, it fired and jammed. Totally disassembled now, problem found, just trying to figure out how to fix it. Lol..
  11. Yes, the cam won't turn due to it being pressed back against the barrel feed langes, not sure about exploded brass as it's still in there, but casing before jam was split at base and primer gone, Sorry, trying to explain the best i can, if i can get the bolt cam to turn back a little,,, right now it won't move to rotate, either way, i think the brass forced it back so far it is up against the barrel feed, i have the barrel loose and it moves back and forth about 5/16 or so with the receiver, sorta like two cars stuck together in a rear end crash.
  12. Way more complicated then a simple morter solution, the exploded brass in the barrel chamber pushed the bolt face up against the feed lands of the barrel so any force applied down is against barrel steel, and any force applied forward is against exploded brass in the barrel. I somehow have to turn the bolt lock to clear the bullet feed grooves and get it to free up.
  13. Hard to get a great pic, basicly the bolt lock is pressed back against the feed grooves. Not turning back to release the receiver. Firing pin is free moving,
