  1. Ok dimensions of bcg coming up
  2. what info are you missing its all been posted
  3. I did read my posts i literally numbered it test by test even to make it easier.
  4. I'm going down the list of all posts
  5. I'm getting the parts im describing from those 2 sources.Im sure its equivalent to the guide you just posted as that guide is missing a lot of parts.I already read that guide when you first posted it.
  6. I'm naming the part correctly charging handle is what you pull.bcg is what goes along with it what am I missing or messing up im following directions to the letter and describing parts correctly.
  7. I noticed some resistance on front pins as back slides smoothly.Im thinking I bent the front takedown pin or bent the lower somehow.
  8. First pic showing bolt locks back with empty mag inside.2nd showing how far charging handle goes.3rd showing when i aim downwards charging handle just falls down.
  9. It doesn't come off track with bcg installed you said to test it without bcg im just following directions pic coming up.
  10. Before I was able to cycle rounds manually so thats why I was worried I fucked something up. as its weird it now scratches the rounds before they came out clean and always cycles first round like nothing did it 6 times never an issue on the first round always locks on 2nd.
  11. So once charging handle goes back so far it can get off track.1st pic showing no bcg.2nd showing how far it can go back no issues.3rd showing when I try to go further what happens meaning goes off track.
  12. I've given as much details as possible i walked everyone threw the process i did ill be happy to answer anymore questions to help me out.my assessment is 1 I damaged the upper slightly bending it frame wise.2 I damaged the pins to lower throwing alignment off.3 I damaged the bolt head assembly somehow.causing it to malfunction on extracting 2nd round making it lock up.
  13. yes the gas tube was removed completely when I removed stock barrel nut I would have bent it if I didn't.
  14. answers to the testing 1st round inserted it ejects and bcg stays locked back as it should when mag is empty.1 upper stripped charging handle moves freely.2 parts installed bcg and charging handle functions correctly no barrel without mag goes back and forth locking into place.3 with barrel installed bcg and charging handle it slides freely locking into place with empty mag both lock bcg back as it should for both tests.4 with just charging handle in upper and lower it slides fine if i pull back too far it comes off track.
  15. Dnp your correct im testing with manual functions as i believe correct me if im wrong.A rifle should function manually as me pulling the charging handle would be the same function as gas built up pushing bcg back to then load another round. Is that normal for it to lock up on 2nd round while pulling charging handle manually id assume it should eject every time.
  16. Ok when I first got it I fired 20 rounds just to see if it functions I put it away.I wanted to upgrade the handguard.I went cheap all I could afford at the time.I removed the a2 flash hider then the stock handguard i then loosen the front sight gas block slid off.I then installed low profile gas block.went for the barrel nut i cranked it 3 times to 30 lbs with a torque wrench.Went to install the gas tube it wouldn't go threw the opening it was slightly off so I thought mabie it needs a little more weight.I took it up to 80lbs on the torque wrench got even closer it was off by a few hairs so close so I had the bright idea put my body weight on it.Im 250 so id say I took it to 120lbs it wouldn't move at all closer i then broke my tool and the barrel nut with that genius move.so I thought just remove it and re start the whole process with stock parts.Well all I did was strip it so I thought I just want it stock again at least working so I pulled out the angle grinder cut the ring off and pulled out the 18 inch wrench it got loose instantly.I thought i was home free i re assembled stock parts went to test cycling manually first round loaded i pulled the charging handle round ejected and loaded the 2nd round i went to pull to eject it was locked closed i mean tight i had to take the pins out the rifle just to get the round out and I inspected the rounds saw scratches that wasn't happening before nor the locking.i am giving as much details as possible.
  17. And all this has been done manually i figure if it can't work manually how will it be able to fire if it is locking closed on me.The barrel nut I broke my tool applied way to much gas tube was off by half the tube diameter.I gave it weight broke my tool in the process and killed it With a smaller wrench. So I pulled out the 18 inch stillson it came right off but that damage occurred with a smaller wrench i now know a shim was the answer and I should have never went over 30lbs of torque it was my first try i learned my lesson.
  18. So I load 1st always goes in I manually pull it ejects then loads 2nd round i go to pull to eject it locks closed on 2nd always.I've been busy with my kids all day ill try testing now.
  19. It functions with everything together its once I add rounds to the clip does it lock on 2nd load.I'll re do everything as you ask step by step.
  20. At the time I did this mistake I assumed it took place of the barrel not the other way around.Ihad the correct tool but was missing the most important part knowledge of what exactly im doing.I watched a few videos and now know 90% of the videos on YouTube are wrong everyone of them did the job with the upper receiver on a block now that may be a 2nd way to do it but the correct way is with the rod on the block.Good news is I'll never do this again bad news is its gonna cost me some new parts.
  21. I'm in Illinois and I have one its in the picture I posted.i know the plastic piece ain't supposed to be in the magwell just like the whole lower wasn't supposed to be there.I did it like that as i suspected 30lbs won't be enough to mess something up it was off by less than a quarter inch i pushed it and threw the receiver off now it don't function properly and no one i know can help.So I was hoping someone could diagnose it.By saying yea thats this or that but like anything its hard to be exact from a far like a doctor diagnosing someone over the internet or a mechanic over the phone its a hard thing to do.What I need is someone with knowledge i can physically go to and watch and learn yea there's YouTube but I prefer the real world hands on i think YouTube is my only way to learn.
  22. Ment to say free float handguard barrel nut
  23. I have the proper tools I just put it on so tight it broke the tool along with the barrel nut that came with the free float upper. The stillson wrench was the only thing on earth that was able to remove it i know it don't belong with the kit but sometimes we gotta improvise at a time like this.I know I could have taken it to a gunsmith but I believe we need to know our rifle better than we know ourselves so I took the leap and failed but its because of failures we can become successful.I learned some things along the way and I learned some things to never ever do again if I had someone to teach me i would have had a better chance my grand dad was the only person I could go to with a gun issue hes been gone a long time. There isn't anyone I know or near me to swap out parts to test so as usual im alone on the project of figuring it out.So I humbly asked you fine folks for help as I am new to the platform and was thinking more minds are better than one im grateful for the time and input from everyone it is an unusual problem as it loads ejects and loads and locks up i may have to go and buy an upper receiver and if it fails I can just get another lower but I do like the idea of a double extractor.I may get one of those too. Those are the tools i had on hand for the job i made the mistake of not adding a shim to help the timing we live and learn patience will always win.
  24. So I put it on a vice with a mag for the vice i know now I should have removed the lower so I went to put on the free float barrel nut.It was just a little bit off to fit the gas tube so I put serious weight on it say 100 lbs yes way over board 30lbs minimum 80lbs maximum.I should have put a shim so in the process i bent the free float barrel nut and broke my tool so I had to remove it with a monkey wrench and had to cut the ring off.I then went to install the original parts back on now when I cycle manually it now scratches rounds (didnt previously) and locks only on 2nd try.Meaning I can load, eject, load and won't eject the charging handle locks never did that previously. My guess is either i bent the upper receiver or lower receiver when doing the mistake of leaving lower attached when changing out barrel nut.I'll add pics of the broken barrel nut to get an idea of the pressure that was needed just to remove also the gap difference on bottom of upper where it connects with the lower.thats why im guessing i bent either or but why the locking now and why does it scratch rounds is a mystery it never did that previously.i added pictures also of how the parts look now they dont appear to be damaged.im trying to give as much details as possible
