edit: Also read here that people need to buy a spring and heavier buffer is it still the case with this kit? BTW: rifle is just to have and in collection, don't hunt (yet). closest range is only 100yds long. I already have a rem 788 rifle in 308. but i have hundreds of 7.62 PPU that it doesn't like.

PPU is brass, came in white boxes of 20 rounds and labeled: 20 Cartridges 7,62 x 51 mm M80 FMJ BT 145 gr Lot PPU 1607-02

Barrel only mentions 308 WIN, but read online that you can fire both. but that a 7..62 should not fire 308

Hello all, thanks in advance. I bought the rifle on a state sale from a widow, the rifle looks in great condition, have not been used in a long time, the lube on the trigger was hardened and trigger didn't function. cleaned it all up and it shoots well with the ammo I also bought from the lady. old winchester silvertip 180gr Issues started when i bought a bulk 7.62 PPU ammo, seems like every other round gets stuck on the barrel after firing. it is impossible to pull the bolt back, I have to use a cleaning rod down the barrel and tap the case out. going back to 308 no issues. but the PPU keeps doing the same thing, What could be causing this? Thanks
