Argonaut
I've seen a lot of posts about failure to eject issues with new 308 builds, and lots of guys talking about having bought a slightly used LR308 only to find it had this issue--somebody gave up before they got to the solution. I tried 3 different magazine brands, six mags in all, different handloads, took everything apart a million times, smoothed everything out, still the same thing: spent brass on top of incoming round jammed in the chamber. First, as many others here have said, you need to run the BCG soaking wet. At first it was all I could do, especially with a round in the chamber at the range, to pull the bolt back out of battery. Sure, the chamber was tight too, but not that tight. It took 200+ rounds before the bolt would move smoothly in my dpms carrier. Never seen that in my Ar builds. All that extra resistance had to be part of it, but what it came down to was a weak extractor spring. (double spring type) I found two solutions, both worked. The first one was I got some tiny rubber o-rings. 3/32ID I think, and put one on the end of the ejector spring where it rests against the inner part of the bolt. Pain in the ass to put on and reassemble, but it stopped the problem. Second was I got an extractor spring from Fulton Armory, which was a little longer too, but has a rubber insert instead of the inner spring. That worked too. So now I have a collection of o-rings in case the spring weakens again. Problem solved. Just thought I'd share that because I know it comes up frequently. <thumbsup>
