MaDuce
Although I am still waiting on the receiver; in terms of what still needs to be bought, my own build is now down to the FFL fee for the receiver transfer, BCG, buffer, buffer spring and bullet button (California) to get the gun working. Then there's also the FSC compensator though the gun will obviously work without it. So basically, it's very close. There's a chance I'll be able to have it up and running next month. This build is rather unique as it uses a number of parts that I haven't seen many, if any info on and thought it might be interesting to put together a thread on the matter of using these parts. The key rare parts are as follows:Red-X X-Treme upper It's their fluted SS barrel version which is not sold on their website. I had to call and talk with them to find out about it. Red-X is a small company who seams to be plagued by their location which seams to get them mistaken for Blackthorne. Compared to DPMS, the only negatives I can see in their products is their finishes seam week and some of the parts still have burrs on them. Other then that, they seam pretty standard.Addax Tactical lower receiver. These are a brand new product and my order is from the second batch which is expected later this month or the beginning of April. I have yet to even see a photo of one but Lale Haddadian (company owner's sister) tells me that it's a .308 copy of their AR-15 lower receiver which tells me it's going to be a nearly perfect cross between the POF and Mega Arms lower receivers. Addax Tactical is well known for their quality and tailor made uppers. They are seen as a step up from PWS and Daniel Defense. Robobot, the AR-15 you held at my house had an Addax ZK upper on it.I also have an AR-15 butt kit for it which still needs a .308 buffer and spring. I also have a DPMS LPK and a Vltor Gunfighter charging handle for it. Ever since I got my Addax ZK, I've been in love with Vltor charging handles and; since they only cost $10 more then the basic stuff, I concluded to built all my ARs with Gunfighters, even the cheap ones. Plans are to initially install a DPMS bolt carrier group and replace it with fancier stuff over time. The same plans are for the entire Red-X upper, though I DO plan to clean up and refinish the Red-X upper receiver and all before the initial build is finished. Anyway, $ is tight but I am also turning 34 next month and Midway USA gives a big discount shortly before your B-Day so I may be able to pull off enough from the savings to actually get the gun up and running. It'll be a close call either way. Anyway, I am open to any new ideas, suggestions, etc.
