Where have all the c-product lr308 mags gone? Midway is out until march, 44mag is out as well. just curious who bought them all? I'd like to snag another 10 if they were available. KS Shooter

Everyone, FYI, I had several C-Product 308 mags that had bent floor plates. I looked around to see if any vendors had replacements for them. None did. I contacted C-Products directly and after several tries they called back and sent me free replacement floor plates. I know it wasn't much of a cost, but they stood behind their equipment. KS Shooter

A tactical/practical rifle sling - for the economic minded
KS Shooter replied to KS Shooter's topic in General Discussion
John, thanks for the link. I looked at it on the midway site. looks a lot like the general m14 slings which are good. thanks. At the price of it, one cannot duplicate it that easily and if it is US made, then that is a plus. thanks KS Shooter -

J Boyette, I think you are misunderstanding what I was asking. And then again, maybe not. I am not out to make slings to sell. I just like to see what others have that works good and see if I can make it for myself for less and have made it myself. I don't know your financial situation and do not want to know, I just know my own and If I can make it myself and save a few dollars, then they can go for other gear that I need. Having said that, if you don't want to share your ideas, that's fine with me. KS Shooter -
does anyone have any pictures or links to good tactical and practical rifle slings without breaking the bank? I know that the stock question is what are you putting it on (dpms lr308 classic), what are you going to use it for (shtf and target shooting) and it has to be dependable. I can make them myself if I see the pictures or links. thanks ks shooter

I cleaned my new rifle this evening and then decided to see if it had any problems with my 308 win reloads. These rounds have been tested in othere rifles (M1A, LR308 AP4, LR308/24 inch bull barrel). Never had a problem with the blanks (minus powder and primer) feeding. I put three in the magazine and then pulled the handle back and released it loading the first cartridge. No problem. Second, no problem. Third, the bolt would not close all the way. Tried the forward assist. Didn't help. I could not pull the charging handle back. So, I took the cleaning rod and gently dropped it into the barrel several times and it tapped the bullet back in the case and then the case was released. Ejected it, retried two more cartridges, and worked like a charm. Took the mag out, locked the bolt back, fed the suspect case into the chamber by hand and released the bolt. It slammed forward without a hitch. Tried two more cartridges and no problems. Now is this an issue because they were reloads, however, I have never had a problem with these blanks before? Is this a new rifle issue that just takes a little wearing in? More importantly, it made me wonder how do I handle this issue with live ammo? What have others done in this situation? thanks in advance. KS Shooter

Ring recommendations for LR308 AP4
KS Shooter replied to KS Shooter's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
98Z5V, thanks for the info. I have a scope to mount on the rifle - it is a new redfield 3-9x40 revolution that I received as part of the trade on the rifle. but, I would prefer something illuminated (preferred), however, I have considered either a wotac or falcon menace. What I would like would be something that gets me out to 800 meters in either mildot or mrad. thanks KS Shooter -
Guys, just wanting to know what you are putting on the ap4 for rings. I have a new set of burris xtreme medium rings (1 inch). will these work or do I need a set that gets up higher than the front sight? thanks KS Shooter

Guys, I have a LR308 AP4 (new/never fired) that I could trade for a LR308 with the bull barrel (new). I think I will be able to trade my rifle for the other and get GG&G buis sights with it. I do like the fact that the ap4 has the forward bolt assist and shell deflector - the other doesn't. Would you trade? I will be using it mainly for long range shooting when I am finished with my range. All comments are appreciated. KS Shooter

Guys, some background information. I have been reloading a variety of ammunition for the past 20+ years, and have done considerable tumbling of cases. Up until now I have never added any brasso to the media to shine the brass. what I do as part of the cleaning process is to boil vinegar/water mix (2/3 vinegar to 1/3 water) and then pore that over the brass. I then add a little dishwashing detergent and then some bakingsoda. I let this set for about 10 minutes and then wash in warm water, drain water, and then blow dry before tumbling. I will do this several times through the reloading process. I experimented with some 9mm brass that I tumbled in the corn cob media/brasso mix for a few hours. They came out nice and shiny. The question is?? Is there a problem doing this? The internet is alive with people saying do not do this but others state that they have been doing it for years without any problem. I make match loads for my lr308 and future 308's so I don't want a problem. However, I have plenty of brass. Any comments are welcome. thanks KS Shooter

Guys, I have a new DPMS AP4 and am considering changing to a new LR308 with 24 inch stainless barrel. My question, is, is there supposed to be considerable play between the upper and lower receivers? I checked the play between the two receivers at the local dealer and it is more than my AP4. Should there be this much play? Will it affect accuracy? Should I stay witht the AP4? I reload and am making match ammunition (right now 168 gr. bthp) for shooting target. If I stay with the AP4 can you recommend a good scope? How about for the LR308 (24 inch barrel)? thanks for the comments in advance! KS Shooter
