What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?

I haven't made the move just yet, but I have quite a bit of experience on the AR-15 platform, and after realizing how much fun a .30-caliber semi-auto is from the Garand, I determined that the AR-10 is where I need to be...soon. -
Hello. My name is Dave. I'm new to 308 AR's but not shooting. I have a LaRue/CMMG AR in 5.56 as well as a Winchester 70 in .223, an M1 Garand and a Savage Mk II Tactical in .22 LR. I joined this forum to get more information on the platform and caliber because I'm contemplating an Armalite somewhere down the road.
