  1. Here is the section from the NRA rule book describing this rifle: 3.1(d) U.S. Rifle, Caliber 7.62 mm M-110 series - In all courses of fire and in all positions the standard 20 round box magazine or a reduced capacity magazine of the same external dimensions will be attached. The flash suppressor may be removed or the rifle may be manufactured without a flash suppressor. Barrel length may not exceed 20 inches, as measured to the end of the rifling in the barrel. The front sling swivel must be attached to the end of the handguard, and must remain in the 6 oclock position no more than 1/2 inche from its original location. The sights must be of the standard design found on the M-16 series of firearms. Rear sight windage and elevation adjustments may be modified to allow finer adjustments. Plastic covers may be used on the mounting rails on the handguard. I don't see anything that would exclude my rifle. I may be wrong but that is what I am basing my build on. Actually where I shoot (MN) there is never enough service rifle shooters for a seperate catagory so we all get lumped together.
  2. So I finally got all of the parts needed to complete my Rock Master/Bush River 308 AR. Yes I have an older Bush Master lower with a Rock River upper. Because of the long wait times for the barrel from Rock River I eneded up buying a complete upper from Gun Broker. This would be a starting point for what I wanted to build. Basically I wanted an M110 that I could use across the course in NRA Highpower matches. I also got a Rock River Free Float tube from ebay. Disaster struck when installing the free float tube. I heard a snap when tightening down the screws for the float tube. Yep it had sheared off so there would be no way to secure the float tube to the rifle. I contacted the seller on ebay and he directed me to call RRA. So I gave them a call and they said, no problem just send us the upper and we will take a look at it. One week after sending it out I called to see what they thought went wrong. They said that they had just shipped it back to me with a brand new float tube and that there would be no charge! Then I asked if they had installed the new float tube on the rifle and the guy sort of laughed and said of course! I told him how greatful and impressed I was with there service and he just laughed again and said something to the effect of well we always stand behind our products and our dealers. Can't ask for more than that. By the way this happended a couple of months ago but I just now have time to let all of you know.
  3. Hoot, So you were able to use a DPMS barrel on a RRA upper? Also, which wrench did you modify? Was it just a standard DPMS wrench? Thanks, Tom
  4. Email replied to. It's yours! SOLD PENDING FUNDS to Tripleduce. Thanks, Tom
  5. Update.....I ordered three dirrefent wrenches last week. Two from Miday at about $22 each and one form Brownells that was $70 after shipping. The first to arrive were from Midway. Neither of them fit. One was close and a little modification to one pin and it would have worked. Monday I got the one from Brownells and my prayers were answered! It fit the standard barrel nut and it even fit the free float tube nut that I will be using. Here is a link: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=24190/sku=851-115-001/Product/-308-Armorer-s-Wrench. Now your milage may vary but this wrench works for me Good Luck, Tom
  6. Complete Rock River Arms .308 Carry Handle style Upper Reciever. That's right this is the big boy. Comes with charging handle and delta ring as shown in the pictures. As you can see in the pictures, the distance between the take down pin holes is 8 1/2". What you see is what you get. Item is used and has some finish blemishes here and there. Most have been touched up as you can see in the pictures. This is an older one and is not marked with a Rock River Logo. This may have been one of the ones they made for Bushmaster back in the day. I also have this listed on some other sites. As soon as it sells I mark this as sold and remove it from other sites. My price is $100 plus $12 for shipping USPS priority mail to the lower 48. (Sorry but I am pretty firm on this price) Please email me with any questions. USPS Money orders or discrete Pay Pal (buy pays associated fees) only please. Due to Customs and Mailing restrictions, I can’t accept any international bidders. Winning bidder to pay $12 Thanks for looking. Tom
  7. I called RRA this morning and the nice lady on the phone said that the barrel nut wrench was on indefinate back order. :-[ She also pointed out that the order was to be complete before shipping.:o I had her change that to ship each item as it becomes available. A friend of mine is a professional machinest and I think I'll have him make me a wrench. Actually he could probably make a small batch that we could offer for a small fee to others. I wonder how much interest there would be for them? Let me know if you guys would be interested in a wrench and what you think would be a fair price. Thanks, Tom
  8. I actually have one on order along with some other parts. The problem is that even on parts there is a 60 to 90 waiting period. The not knowing is what's killing me. Tom
  9. I am also in need of a RRA wrench. Anyone got one they want to sell or rent? Thanks, Tom
  10. I agree with everyone who said to start with a single stage press. It will teach you each step. What to look for, what it looks like and most importantly how its supposed to feel. I have a Rock Chucker sing stage and a Dillion 650. The case feeder is a must for the 650. Otherwise there isn't that big of an advantage of the 650 over the single stage. The first thing you should buy is a reloading manual from a major mfr. In the front it will walk you through the process step by step. Just my $0.02 Tom
  11. I agree with you guys. I'm hopping that a current Rock River upper will work with my lower. Do you guys think there is any chance that my lower would work with a DPMS upper? Thanks, Tom
  12. Okay guys, The lower is marked Bushmaster but it was actually made by Rock River according to the guy that I bought it from. I believe him since the lower looks exactly like a Rock River. When I was at Camp Perry for service rifle week I check with all the major mfrs and they agreed that is what it was. They also said I should stick to only Rock River parts. Another thing that I found out was that there are a couple of different styles of 308's. DPMS, Armalite and Rock River. DPMS make a lot of parts for other companies. The there are not interchangable and that is why they told me to use Rock River parts. That is the extent of my 308 knowledge. Later, Tom
  13. Do you still have the 20" barrel or did you trade it? I may be interested in it if you would like to sell it outright. Thanks, Tom
  14. Hey guys, I recently got a deal on a complete Rock River lower. Do I have to stick with Rock River or can I use someone else's upper? Any and all advice is more than welcome. Thanks, Tom
  15. Hi guys, I've been wanting to put together a .308 AR ever since the NRA approved the M110 type .308 AR's for use in service rifle competition. A couple of weeks ago I got a great deal on a complete lower with an upper minus the bolt and barrel. So now I've been trying to find any and all infromation I can on building up the upper. Any advice is more than welcome. Thanks, Tom
