  1. Hello all, just got in my Fulton 12" quadrail in the mail and went to install it on a 16" Oracle. Alot of people including Fulton where saying either a strap wrench or modifying the DPMS barrel nut wrench would be needed. The Fulton barrel nut that I got had no fitment problems at all on the DPMS side of the wrench. Although I did have a little trouble, nothing too major. 1) The low pro gasblock I got wasnt small enough. Have to order another one but kinda wasted $45 on that one. The height isnt the problem, it's how close the barrel is to the rail itself leaving very little clearance on the bottom side of the barrel. Smaller one ordered. 2) Since the clearance from the gas block to the handguard itself is so tight, the unit has to be put in place first. Then you can install the gasblock. This rail is ment for a mid-lenght gas system... I have a carbine length lol. The cutout on the bottom side for the set screws through the handguard for tightening the gas block is mid leaving me no where to tighten the gas block once installed on the rifle. Going to have to measure and make my own carbine lenght access hole for this. 3) If this handguard is going on a newer style DPMS, then the rails on the handguard are a tad higher. If you hae the older style then it would be perfect, but in my case I could care less. I wanted to figure this thing out and wanted to push my bipod further down the barrel. But I hope it helps anyone who researchs this in the future because it was a learning experience for me also. Mike
  2. You betcha, once you become an Alaskan resident you can apply for a subsistance permit which drasticly ups the maxes you can catch for the day. Here when the salmon where running still you where allowed 2 a day. But with the subsistance, you can go out on a boat and net I think 25 a day or something like that. I would have to check the exact figures. And that 25/day goes for each person on the boat with the permit. You have 4 people with it theres 100 salmon you can keep a day lol. Rediculous :)
  3. Sorry for posting bad info then, it didnt mention anything about the 308B barrels. Learn something new every day.
  4. Thanks Guys mantawolf- if you can put down the cash lol. You could almost do an African hunt for the price of one of these Kodaiks. They are fricking huge though. MaDuce- Not that far away at all. Hoping to hit the ice hockey tourny in April there. Winter just hit here this week. Best fishing in the world up here.
  5. 110 gr Hornady AMAX with exactly 44gr Varget in Lake City/Federal Match LR Primer here. The 110 grain normally is better in higher twist barrels but with the 1-10twist, I under-charged it. Bullet is running roughly 2900ft/sec and fragments easily. Consistant 1/4 MOA or less at 100 yards. Extremely fun to shoot small targets with, not much left most of the time lol. And I mean this is disgustingly accurate for me, poked same holes many a times with it. Its also a 1/4 MOA low and left from the 168gr Hornady AMAX with 41.1gr Varget load I use also (brass and primer are the same). A good 2 for 1 with it, either harder hitting 168gr or fragmenting 110gr.
  6. Hey guys, seen the site a couple times but never registered. I'm enlisted in the USCG up in Kodiak, Alaska and have a DPMS LR308 16" Oracle that has a couple bucks into it/constantly playing with. Been loading ammo for it and love how accurate this thing is for not being a bolt action. Already learned a couple things fom the site in the past but also hope that I can add to the information base at the same time. Anyways, cheers everybody, Mike
  7. Definitely a good rifle for sure fella, wish I could say that I was at 20 years :(. Congrats on 20 and have fun shooting that thing.
  8. Take a look at the underside of your barrel, it should say 7.62x51. From the FAQ on DPMS' website, supposedly they chamber their LR308s in 7.62 and their AR-15s in 5.56. Unless it was built by someone else then it should be good to go.
