  1. Op, if you haven't got a barrel yet and your interest is high power, I'd look at Kreiger. They have drop in AR10 barrels listed on their web site and they're a top tier match barrel maker. Using a rifle length gas system, you shouldn't need an adjustable gas block, this is how Mr. Stoner designed it. If you go mid length or change to 6.5 mm or .243 without moving the gas port then you need some adjustablility. Make sure you get a 10 twist as you're going to want to shoot 175's or heavier. Noveski is very popular with the tactical crowd and they make good stuff, but for what you want I'd go with a custom barrel. Thats Kreiger, Rock, Obermyer, Lilja, etc. Good luck & have fun with your build.
  2. Here's what it takes to mount a Magpul MOE handguard on an AR10. The heat shield needs to be slit with a Dremel & cut off wheel as shown in the picture below. Then re-contour the aft section so that it will fit around the chamber area of the barrel like so. [img width=810 height=607]http://i940.photobucket.com/albums/ad248/MBuechle/AR10/PC010142.jpg I found as many others have, that the handguards are slightly long for the Armalite. I moved my front sight forward about .015" and the handguard fit without any grinding. It fits snug without any slop or movement. If you opt to move the FSB or gas block, check it's current gas hole alignment with the gas port via the soot ring around gas port on barrel to make sure that you can move block forward without partially covering gas port. The gas port on my FSB was larger than the barrel port and allowed forward movement. The other option is to remove material from end of handguard. Here's a pic of the finished product. I really like this handguard, it's more solid and feels better than the GI ones and gives you some equipment mounting options.
