JP told everything was installed hand tight so it shouldn't be hard to get off and put the barrel nut on... On a side note, Mega Arms contacted me today and said my MKM is ready for shipment!!! Finally, the wait is over. I still lack a buttstock, trigger, and LPK.....I bet this will push me a little faster to get these things ordered.

Sounds good....Recoil Eliminator it is......Now......? Is it going to be difficult taking the Recoil Eliminator and gas block off so I can put the barrel nut on? I want to make sure I get them put back on right..... What tool do you recommend for taking the Recoil Eliminator off? I don't want to scratch it all to hell...lol I'm not a newbie to firearms, but I am a newbie when it comes to building them. I'm a virgin with the .308 platform....I'm confident that you guys will help me get through this and answer all the dumb questions I will ask...I'm the type, if I'm not 100% sure on something, I will ask. I have never installed a barrel, gas block, compensator, trigger, buffer system, or LPK....I have only bought complete rifles until now....This is something I've been wanting to do so I can gain the much needed knowledge I lack with the platform. Since I'm a new FFL holder, I'm trying to learn the AR-15/.308 platform and learning everything I can about the 1911 platform. These are the firearms that I love. I'll shut up now....The 1911 I will tackle after I get comfortable with this .308 Thanks for everything....I'm sure this thread will continue for most of the year.....You guys have been very respectful, informative, patient, and helped me a ton. I'm relying on this forum 100%.... Again, thanks for everything.... This forum truly is the best one I've been a member of....A lot of the others have way too many rude, disrespectful doichebags....I don't see much of that with the .308ar forum.

This is the comp that was supposed to come with it.... I'm thinking with a 18" barrel, the recoil eliminator might punish me....Please let me know what you guys think I should do.

I got my barrel kits in....I need some help.....I was supposed to get them with JPs normal compensator. They came with the Recoil Eliminator on them...... When I get my Mega MKM set in, is it going to be tough to take the Recoil Eliminator and gas block off so I can get the Mega supplied barrel nut on. Is JPs Recoil eliminator going to have a lot more muzzle blast and barrel flip? I don't mind staying with the recoil eliminator....My only worry is taking it off and re-installing it. I'm not talking bad on JP at all....They have been great, products arrived fast, and their quality is awesome. I'm just trying to decide if I should stick with the recoil eliminator or go ahead and get their normal comp installed on it. Here is a pic of the barrel kit I just received

For optics, any opinions on the Bushnell Elite Tactical 3-12x44 Illuminated Mil Dot FFP? I purchased this a few months back and put it on my Remington 700 6mm rem, but I'm thinking this would work great on this .308 build. I plan to purchase the KAC 45 degree sights also (future purchase) . Things are starting to add up quickly!!! The JP Silent Captured Spring arrived Friday, so the barrel kit should be here sometime this week. I've wanted to test/review the Silent Captured Spring to see if it's worth the extra money. I've read a lot of good feedback about it.... I wish Mega Arms would call to notify me that my MKM will be shipping out 3 months early. I shot them an email a couple weeks ago to confirm that the estimated Nov 29th delivery date is still accurate. They said they were still on track....Man I hope.

Good info....I'm done with with Troy. The KAC sights will work very good for on this rifle. What are some good, light, .308 stocks?

I think I will spend the money and get a Geissele trigger. Seems like they are the way to go.... On Srocks.....I really like the looks of the Magpul UBR......I have never used one. I've used the PRS, EMOD, and the Ergo F93... The PRS was on a .338 Lapua. I had no problems with any of them.... I really like the Ergo Tactial Deluxe pistol grip, but I haven't looked at any pistol grips that are new to the market. Optic, still undecided. Probably a Vortex Viper or Razor, Nightforce, Bushnell, etc. i will go with quality glass. I love Troys iron sights, but they have made some stupid business decisions here lately and I don't think I can stomach my money going to them.

I was a dealer for Loki. Since I'm from Oklahoma, i decided to support a local business....Sold a lot of their ARs, then one day they just disappeared. They got me for almost $3,500.... I had 2 customers who paid them in full....I ended up refunding them....I own a few Loki billet ARs and they are great rifles, but they screwed MANY people out of money. They shut the doors, turned the lights off, and left Dodge without notifying anyone! There is a huge list of people that lost money.....quite a few that lost $$,$$$

I wasn't expecting the bolt carriers to arrive this soon. The wife called me at work and asked why our debit card was charged $400+ dollars from some place called JP......haha.....I forgot to tell her...oops

I received 2 JP .308 LMOS stainless with QPQ carriers in yesterday.... 1 part down, many to go....I'm going to go with the JP barrel since the enhanced bolt comes with it.

Alright guys help me out...I'm thinking about emailing JP and placing an order for both MKM extended rifle sets that are due to me around November....I'll list what I had in mind...If something won't work or if you think I should try something else, please chime in....This is my first .308 platform (DPMS/Armalite) project....I own several AR-15s, so I know what works and what doesn't....The only information I have for this build is your input and input from this site. I'm wanting a dead reliable, accurate, finished product....Hopefully I want have to many headaches once I get it together. Anyways part list...I haven't emailed JP yet.... 16" .308 barrel (black Teflon color) w/ Enhanced bolt JPSM308-16L10 - bolt carrier (whichever one you recommend, JPBC-4 or JPBC 4SP? ) - JP adjustable gas block (JPGS-LO...Yay or nay?) - JP low mass buffer (JPLMB, will this work?) - JP polished Spring ( JPS-OSC.308 or JPS-OSR.308?) - Mid Length Gas tube ( GTI- MID) I found a DPMS LPK for $85...... Buttstock, pistol grip, flash hider/compensator will come later...I'm thinking I will go with the Battle Comp...Haven't decided yet. Trigger, I'm still up in the air with it....I looked over the JP EZ trigger,...I don't have a broad range of knowledge when it comes to triggers.,..I know who the major players are, but no hands on experience with them or anything involving the .308 DPMS/Armalite platform. Anything I'm leaving out and would you change Anything out on the parts list? I have a feeling this build is going to nickel and dime me to death. Oh well, I might as well be a grizzly if I'm going to do it.

Sounds like a great idea JGun....So far I've emailed Young Manufacturing and Rainer Arms....No reply yet...I really do like the Ultra Match barrel....I think I will go ahead and order a barrel through Mega....I'm sure they are quality barrels.... Anyone know if JP Rifles has a BCG (DPMS style) that will work....I've read people use JP's Enhanched bolt....Didn't know if they carried the bolt carrier also that would work.... A few more things.... LPK....Does it matter? Will any AR-10 LPK work? I'm thinking I'll got with Geiselle on the trigger. During the build, which areas should I pay "extra" attention to? Last thing....Any tools I need to purchase? I have until November to get everything....This is the expected ship date

Thanks for the feedback. Knowledge is priceless....This should be plenty to keep me busy for awhile. I totally agree with the market being nuts. It was hard getting things in before these recent turn of events. It's damn near impossible now. All of my distributors are dry to the bone. It will be tough rounding up the BCG, Barrel....pretty much everything....Hopefully it settles down soon....I'm hoping all of Feinstein's ignorant, illegal bills get shot down. Again....Thanks....
