  1. Well just got done loading Winchester .308 brass with 44 grains of Varget powder and 168 grain Speer target match boat tail bullet. All the readings on the reloading forums people seem to like this load the best. Hopefully I can get to the range tomorrow to test it out. I will post my results.
  2. I am using RCBS kit. It was pretty simple to do. I had help though. Been reading a lot . With reloading you have to be very careful. Check, double check, and triple check. I'm new so I am extra careful. I just picked up Speer 168 gr. Match Target and Varget powder so this weekend I will try a different load.
  3. Well the Winchester .308 brass is $19.95 for 100. The CCI primers are $4.95 for 100. The matchking sierra 175 gr. bullets are $31.95 for 100. The IMR 4007 SSC is $26.95 a lb which is enough for 100 Bullets. It comes out to about .84 cents a bullet. Not a huge savings but definetly a difference in accuracy.
  4. Running LAR-8 Varmint with 26" barrel.
  5. Here are the results from my Rock River arms .308. I used 2 boxes of manufacture ammo and then 6 reloads. This was also my first time reloading. Definetly tighter groups with reloading. I am going to try different loads to find what my rifle likes the most. Here is the first time loading my own ammo.
  6. You got to love that LAR 8.
  7. Well I finally got to take out my two rifles out to the range. The Rock River Arms was unbelievable! After sighting it in at 100 yards I was able to cover 3 shots in a quarter. I have never been able to do this before except for the .22 rifle pictured at 100 yards. I have had .223 and have never been able to shoot like that. I need to learn how to measure MOA and stuff like that but until then I just judge it by money. Hahahaa. Thanks guys I have done a lot of reading here on this rifle and glad I decided to go this route. Next time Videos of my range trip. Super Stoked!
  8. I love the Suppressor you have. I was thinking about doing the same thing over the winter months but kind of shy because of all the hoops you have to jump through to get one. Do you really notice a difference in sound?
  9. I finally got mine finished. LAR-8 Varmint 26" Barrel, Harris BiPod, Burris MTAC 6.5X20 50mm, and Burris P.E.P.R mount. Now to get her to the range. What do you guys think?
  10. What do you think of the new handguard? I actually like the older one better.
  11. GS455, I have a better understanding as to why my price was $175.00 more than when I originally purchased it. This is from Rock River Arms themselves. I received updated parts in my rifle that were different from my original order. I received the newer buttstock. I received the newer half quad rail. Rock river arms did pass the new price onto the dealer which was passed on to me. I only paid for the upgrades that was added. It was fair. It also says on the Rock River website prices subject to change. If the Parts cost them more it cost you more.
  12. Jon, Do you think the XTR 6-24X50mm is over kill? I do want to go out long distant.
  13. I just picked this baby up. I installed a Bipod and now need to get a scope then off to the range. I have a good friend who is a Burris Rep so scopes are 70% off Retail. He gets one a year but doesn't use them so he gave me another coupon. Just trying to decide which one for long distant target shooting.
  14. Used Acrylic Paint to highlight the Rock River Arms Logo.
  15. I have the Lar8 Varmint with 26 inch barrell. I had the same thing. My total at time of ordering was $1660. I put a $1000 down. I thought the Gunshop was just trying to tack on more money on the price of the gun so I called Rock River Arms and they said yes the price has changed and they pass that price change onto the dealer. If you look at thier website you will see that the base cost increased by $200. Well at least in my case. It's all good I was just happy to finnaly get it. I live in Wisconsin but bought the rifle in Illinois so they saved me some money by not charging me taxes and paying cash.
