forgot to post that i recently got my Heavy buffer in from Slash's at Heavybuffers.com AR10R-XH let me tell you guys, this thing is worth the money. i tested this back and forth between the stock one and this, with 180G match ammo and you can feel the difference. if i was to best explain the difference i would say that it felt like i was shooting about 145G bullets. thats how much of a recoil reduction i felt. like about 15-20% less recoil. IMHO i don't have the exact science behind the exact difference in recoil but if me and 2 of my buddy's felt it, its worth it. not that im a female cat and cant handle the recoil... its more of why would i deal with the recoil if i dont have to.. this is my experience with this.

hey there guys and gals. so a few members encouraged me to post a build thread of my first long range Rifle build. i am new to long range rifles and will share my experience and ask for your advice when i need. so enjoy and hope this will be educational as i plan to make this as detailed as i can. im no pro by any means, just a fast learning newbie. I strongly believe in good quality products and also the saying "Buy once, Cry once" --UPGRADES I HAVE SO FAR-- trigger: Geissele SSA-E Barrel: stock dpms 16" barrel Hand guard: Troy alpha free float 12" Stock: magpul PRS Grip: Ergo with shelf fore grip: magpul AFG2 Bipod: B&T atlas bcm charging handle Scope: Osprey (temporary solution) scope mount: 20 moa rail adapter Muzzle: Griffin Armament 7.62 flash comp (same as the M4SD ii just bigger and well for my .308 thread) im sure im forgetting more things. --UPGRADES I WANT TO GET STILL-- -18" custom heavy barrel from John Benjamin (it is a highly recommended barrel from lots of guys in the northwest.) the guy is from southern OR UPDATE: maybe a 20" still doing research. with my set up so far i hear that anything after 20 you don't gain enough Velocity they say the sweet spot is between 18-20" barrels -upgraded BCG (need to do research before i pick one) -on the fence between NF ATACR and the razor HD GEN ii (leaning towards the RazorHD though. waiting for more solid reviews) -and a good QD style mount. maybe something with a 20moa slope. here is a few pictures of the gun as of a few weeks ago. this is the very first group i shot from this rifle. actually its the very first group i shot from a rifle ever. after i zeroed using a lead sled. this is 100 yards from a bench. using bi-pod. it might not be all that but made me happy. here are another pics of my target i shot. they have more fliers on them because i was getting excited and paid less attention on duplicating my form and body position. some pics from before (the way i got the Gun) sorry i dont have much. i wish i took more and better pics. it didnt stay this way for long. actually for about 2 days to be exact. i never even shot it this way. went straight for the build. i got it from a friend that started the project.

Blackhawk Carbine Length 2 piece Quad Rail Forend, Black Made in the USA I got my gun with this rail and i upgraded to a free floating one. go no use for this one any more. ill incloude the Original DPMS barrel nut and gas block. this should fit the AR-15 as well. (correct me if im wrong) came off of a DPMS LR-308 this is not free floating. just replaces the original Carbine hand Guard Features: - Replaces handguards with no modifications to the weapon - Slim profile for a more comfortable, handguard-like feel - Unique vent hole design helps dissipate heat and reduce weight - Interlocking halves are secured using four screws for extra strength and stability - Limited rotation push-button sling swivel attachment points are incorporated on left and right sides prefer paypal to protect me and you. asking $80 shipped. to anywhere in the 48

Sisco, ill keep you guys posted as i try things out. i only got to shoot my gun as it sits once so far. put 130 rounds through it over last weekend. noticed some things i might want to look in to. muzzle rise and some recoil. the heavy buffer that is on its way, should help. ill try it then and ill make a new topic with some of my newbie experience

AR-Sniper replied to AR-Sniper's topic in Accurizing the .308AR
D.R.D im checking reviews on that now. looks good so far. and RoboCop, i trust your advice, i read a few other recomindations you made to another member a while back i was reading on getting the heavybuffer for recoil reduction for the .308. i ordered one. should be in this week. so thank you for that :) after doing some searching of the JP one you recomended im leaning more on the battlecomp one. just to keep the option open for 3d as well. i shoot at the range to sight in so i think that would be more respectful then the JP. any others i may want to look in to? so far im leaning on 1) battleComp BABC 2) Griffen M4SD II (but for a .308) 3) ... -
hello from PDX, OR
-
just wanted to say hello. i have been watching this forum for about 2 months now or close. and like what i see. lots of decisions i made was based off of members recommendations to others. finally decided to post up. I LOVE all guns. and respect any one that believe in the 2nd amendment. I have not owned my rifle long and just started building my first one a few weeks ago. i was going to build a bolt action rifle first but with a change of heart, i decided a AR platform should go first then build my dream bolt action gun later. im building her for Long range precision. my goal is to hit 3 pop cans at 1000 yards with only 6 round. i dont think thats asking much? lol i will practice as much as it takes to do this. its my fun gun. long range and coyote killer. i would hunt with it but im a Archer by heart. and i go for archery hunts over rifle any day. i like the challenge of stocking deer/elk to get with in 50 yards well back on subject this is what i got so far. DPMS LR-308 ON the GUN trigger: Geissele SSA-E Barrel: stock dpms 16" barrel Hand guard: Troy alpha free float 12" Stock: magpul PRS Grip: Ergo with shelf fore grip: magpul AFG2 Bipod: B&T atlas bcm charging handle Scope: Osprey (temporary solution) Muzzle: YHM flash hider im sure im forgetting more things. things left to get -18" custom heavy barrel from John Benjamin (it is a highly recommended barrel from lots of guys in the northwest.) the guy is from southern OR -a good scope -muzzle brake and maybe more things as time goes by. as of now im happy here are some latest pictures i took a few days ago.

Hey guys newbie here. im looking to get a new muzzle brake or something that will reduce my recoil and maybe barrel climb. i currently have a YHM flash hider. i ordered a heavy buffer from heavybuffers.com i been reading a lot of your older posts and following along for a month or so. to better educate my self. those the reason i decided to just order it and try it out. lets not have the price of a muzzle device be a factor. i want pure performance. something that does great with recoil and muzzle climb. just to be more on the spot for a follow up shot. would be a plus if it is not over board in other categories such as flash and the loud factor. that is not a big deal but would be nice a few i been looking at that i like. but want your opinion on. -Battle comp -PWS -JEC just a few names that i have heard one or 2 guys recommended. what would you recommended? doesn't have to be the 3 i listed just what would you get and why? keep in mind this is for precision long range shooting. to be accurate at 100-1000 yards mostly the longer ranges though. this is my setup now -troy free float hand guard (lowpro gas block) -16" 1.10 twist barrel (will be getting a custom made 18" 1.10 twist barrel from John Benjamin, highly recommended by a lot of guys in OR and WA.) -Geissele SSA-E trigger -magpul PRS Stock -bcm charging handle -osprey scope (temporary until i can afford a better one) -ergo grip with shelf -atlas bypod im pretty sure the rest is from DPMS as far as internals go. im pretty sure im ether missing some other things or that is all. but im sure this is more then enough to give you a idea of what im working with. some pics
