  1. I bought my Armalite AR 10 for one reason. Simplicity. Not to win a beauty pagent. It has the old school M16A1 look I like. Tear down was easy, cleaning was easy, re-assembly was easy. Granted it's been over 30 years since I've done it. Shot for the first time with just iron sights. Only took about 5 rds to dial it into the X at 150 yards. Very nice. I'm leaving it just the way it is. I did buy an inexpensive scope just to play with, and I did buy an ambidexterous saftey selector because I shoot lefty. But thats it. I have been shooting my M1 Garand for years, and with the "AR" platform popularity at an all time high, I wanted something I was somewhat familiar with but different as well. Thats my 2 cents. Semper Fi.
  2. I purchased a Leapers UTG 1X4.5 at the show where I bought my AR a couple of weeks ago for about $150.00. I have only shot with it once, but it worked very well for the money. The reviews I read on it were all very positive.
  3. Don't forget about the blacklight. Gotta have a blacklight. ^-^
  4. Hello everyone. Picked up my AR-10 a week ago, and fired it today for the first time. No regrets. Looking forward to reading your posts, and picking your brains.
  5. Finally got to the range today, one full week after purchasing my AR-10 from a gun show in the Atlanta area. I think it is the 10B model because it came with 2 steel (M14?) magazines. Also picked up 500 rds of PMC ammo for familiarization and sighting in work. So far I am very happy with my choice to go with the "bigger" AR platform. Took about 5 rds to get into the X with iron sights at 150 yards. Very consistent, even though I have read that the lesser expensive ammo does not shoot as well. I had no problem once dialed in. I had been looking at the AR-15/M-4 platform for a while but there are so many out there, and I like the old school look. The carry handle and front sight are removable, and I had also picked up a decent red dot while at the show as well. It performed ok. I actually shot better with the open sights. After about 75 rounds my 1 hour was up. I will look forward to visiting this site for info and future ideas. Thanks in advance.
