  1. Shep, that's how it all started. I built up a pretty big collection of scrap paper with all the info I was finding. Spreadsheet was made to put it all in one place. This is when I realized I may need a second job. 98, thanks for the heads up man. I won't hold it against them... It's always easier when your spending someone else's money!
  2. Believe me, I know. I have an Excel spreadsheet laid out with everything I need. Next to each item I have the manufacturer, part #, price, store/site, and weight. I thought finding all this stuff would be the hard part. After joining this forum, I've realized paying for everything is what's getting in the way! Looks like it's gonna be piece by piece, month by month. Can't stand it.
  3. Followed this up with CAR-10XH buffer with spring from Heavybuffers.com. You guys make this too easy.
  4. Hey guys I'm planing my first .308 build. 18" barrel that I'd like to be able to use for hunting and some occasional target shooting. I've seen some other threads on light weight handguard recommendations. I was wondering if their are any advantages in choosing one over the other(KeyMod or M-Lok)? I honestly don't foresee going crazy with many attachments. Probably just a bipod for target shooting. As always, thanks for everyone's input.
  5. Just got my Ares Armor NiB BCG in today. First piece of my first .308 build. Saw the group buy for the Tac Ops charging handle and placed an order for one. It has begun.
  6. Welcome from GA!
  7. Welcome from GA! I recently joined this forum for the same reasons as yourself. There is an enormous amount of information on this site broken up into different categories. Once you become familiar with how things are organized, usually you'll find what you're looking for in an existing thread. When I haven't been able to find something, these guys have been extremely helpful. Someone has always been willing to share their knowledge and experience with me. Good luck on your build!
  8. New member to the forum. Just found this post. I'm about 30 miles south of Savannah. About the only place we have around here for any type of medium to long range shooting is on power lines. At least the only ones I'm aware of.
  9. Just got a new email today. Another $10 off. They're now $179.95. $10 flat shipping. A few other .308 parts on sale, too!
  10. I've got XS 24/7 big dot sights on my Glock 23 EDC. Really quick target acquisition day or night. They're not intended for long range target shooting, but for self defense purposes I think they're awesome.
  11. Wetncold, Thanks for the info man. Mostly deer hunt, but we've started seeing hogs on our property this year. Maybe with the help of this forum's members I can build something to help eradicate them. How about yourself? Do y'all have problems with them up in your corner?
  12. I just priced the Aero Precision set. Why are they so much cheaper than SI-Defense and Mega?
  13. Sorry about the last post. Still getting the hang of this. I don't have a lower yet. I wanted to buy a "matching" set (upper and lower) from the same company to try to have the best fit between the two. Any recommendations on matching sets like the ones Mega and SI Defense offer? I don't need ambi controls, just thought it would add some cool points.
  14. This is my first AR build. I'm new to the forum, and I've been reading tons of posts trying to get as much information as possible. I'd like to go with a DPMS sass 18" barrel. Which brand receiver set would you guys recommend, Mega or SI Defense? Are there any major benefits or consequences with one over the other, or is it more just personal preference? Thank you in advance for your guidance.
  15. Thank you all for the warm welcomes. I'm sure I'll start picking your brains soon.
  16. Hi everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been trying to decide whether to build or buy a .308 AR. After finding this site I've decided to try my first build. I can't believe how much knowledge on the subject is all here in one central location. This is great!
