  1. Thanks Blksheep, The 7 page read was great information to have and keep. I didnt understand what the true difference between them until now. I had decided to go with the Burris brand so of the two choices they have I am going to order the Burris 201080 XTR II 8x-40x-50m Illuminated F-Class MOA FFP Reticle Riflescope.. I understand the MOA system better than the mill. I have always used standard cross hair scopes so this is going to be great to learn and experiment with to if I can realy shoot or not out to 800-1000 yards.
  2. I had not seen the Horus before.. It is closer to the FFP then the Mill DOT
  3. I am ready to purchase my scope.. I will be using it for target, plinking, possible hunting. I am putting it on my 308 24" barrel AR. These are my opiton (ref pics) Why would I buy one vs the other? I am leaning to the FFP retical from Burris.
  4. This it what I just purchased. looks cool and seams to work well. Brownells.
  5. I will order a set asap.. thanks for the info. hope it is good news and the over presure was caused by the gun juice in the barrel.
  6. ""Did you head space that bolt and barrel? "".... Please explain this process or send me a like to check this. I'm 100 percent sure I didn't do this.
  7. I did not run a patch to dry the extra from the barrel. That makes sense. They didn't blow out of any of the next forty rounds.. i bet the juice had dried by then. I won't make that mistake again.
  8. SORRY 12 OF 20
  9. So went and ranot some rounds through the new upper... had some interesting things happen.. first 20 rounds were winchester factory 180gr loads.. I had 13 out of the 20 blow the primer right out on the cases? Have you ever had this happen? I also had to use the forward assist on over half the rounds to close the Breach. I run gun juice through the barrel between each of the first 10 rounds. Next 20 rounds were steel case wolf brand 140gr. They cycled through better but needed forward assist on 4 over them. No primers blown out. No signs of over presure. Next 20 rounds i went back to the winchester factory loads. They cycled great until number 20. Firing pin hit the primer but didn't fire. Ejected the round,, reloaded it and it fired this. Not the dream day of shooting the new setup I was hoping for. Still able to pull OK grouping in between fumbling around. Do you think the brownells barrel mating with the dpms new bolt will need some breakin?
  10. Thanks for the approval. No POF didnt change nor were they willing to help. So after test fitting a couple of different uppers to the POF lower I found the DPMS upper matched almost perfect to the POF Lower. Once I had found the upper to match I started looking at pin shim options for the DPMS upper. There is not any good options for shimming there is not enough differences between the two pin sizes without doing additional machining and enlarging the DPMS pin holes. So the best option to me seamed to be make the lower pins of the POF match the rest of the manufacturers pins size. Mcmaster Carr offers many precision reamers of all different sizes. The 0.278" reamer was the perfect fit for the DPMS pins. After removing the pin keepers and springs it was a piece of cake. Used a buddy and a hand drill. (Held straight and level) I also had to ream out the holes of my POF upper. This does not bother me for the fact that now I can interchange my POF upper/lower with any DPMS platform in the future if needed. I hope other with the POF system find this forum and are able to save a bunch of time and research with there own builds.
  11. Thanks,, I am leaning that way...
  12. I just purchased the 3x9 burris with e1 redical.. Have not used it yet but looks high quality. I am looking for another for using out to 1000 yards for my new setup. what would you pick from in 5-25x50 Burris models xtr,e1,verosity. All similar in price within 200 buck
  13. I am planned for tomorrow afternoon if all goes as planned.. dreaming of some bullseye,s tonight
  14. Got it..
  15. Or not
  16. Pic 1

  18. Just finish assembly of my long barrel 308 rifle.. About 6 months of research and waiting for Parts. What do you think? Parts used: POF Factory Built Lower DPMS Upper & Bolt from Brownells 24in Stainless G5 Barrel from Brownells 00-011-352 A04-007 M11 MUZZLE BRAKE 7.62MM SS from Brownells A02-219 ACCU-WASHER SYSTEM 5/8-24 from Brownells ADJUSTABLE GAS BLOCK from Brownells Plus some other small items
  19. Thanks for your insight. I didnt like the sound of the Loc-tite myself. I hope to have the gun assembled and able to shoot by this weekend.. Crossing my fingers that there is no major issues with the mix bread POF and DPMS parts. They look like a perfect match if not better than the POF lower and upper combo from the factory.
  20. OK I will order the armilite tube and try it first. They are not much more than the other brands. I have also heard of people using green locktite around the outside of the barrel where in fits into the upper receiver.. why? Does it make the gun more accurate?
  21. Right. Would Not.. no help
  22. I reamed the pin holes in the lower with a .278 reamer from McMaster carr. Perfect fit after that for the dpms pins. I also reamed the pin holes in my pof upper to match. Took a ton of research and head scratching to make it happen. I was very disappointed about pof after I learn they would help me.
  23. new to the forum... I am building my first ar10. Using pof lower from my purchase 14.5in gun, new dpms upper, new 24in. flutted ss barrel from Brownells. I am confused on What is the correct gas tube for the gas port @ 12" from the camber. Can some give some guidance? Alsowhat is the best procedure for timing.. I have purchase An adjustable gas block.
