  1. OK so the magazine follower pushes up on the bolt catch so after the last round is fired the bolt is caught. Maybe, the bolt catch is not been pushed up ward enough so when the magazine is dropped the catch gives away? I did ordered new springs and plungers in case that's where the problem is.
  2. So the new girl is together everything checks out. The only issue I have is that the bolt goes forward when I drop the magazine. Could the magazine (magpul) be catching the bolt stop and pulling it downward as it falls? The magazine does drop free. I can lock the bolt back manually and it locks on the empty mag. Any information would be helpful.
  3. So how do I post some pics of my build?
  4. I've been looking for a spring/buffer combo for my A2 set up. What is the proper buffer weight? How can I tell it apart from an AR 15 set?
  5. Hookers, I think they got hookers, or doughnuts. Maybe doughnuts.
  6. Maybe they were arming a secret zombie army to take over the world.... yea you are right; they are just stupid.
  7. I'm using the red spring for the hammer.
  8. I did noticed that many people have chosen the ALG trigger with the JP spring set. This sounds like a solid combination that is bomb proof. At least as close to mil spec as possible. All made in the USA and less than 6 lbs. for well under $100. To me reliability is number one. Although I am open to recommendations.
  9. Why are there Marines in Navy ships? Cuz sailors need somebody to dance!  On ales serious note, I'm using an A2 stock on my LR308 build and I'm planning to use surplus and reloads. What spring/buffer weight combo you recommend?
  10. I always wonder about primers. How are they rated/measured? Heat, pressure, flame duration? I reload and of the few brands I've used I noted no changes.
  11. Who makes these? Am I looking for a particular brand; Wolf, etc.? I do prefer a two stage trigger.
  12. Ordered the DMS ATACS lower. Now I have to consider a lower kit. Here is a question: How good can a "regular" trigger be? With a little work can they be in the 4 lbs. range? The trigger packages look to be in the $150 to $300. Any opinions on where is the best bang for the buck?
  13. I also saw the DPMS 338 Federal striped receivers for $110. Wouldn't it work for a 308 build too? Oh and the DPMS ATACS (blemished) for $130. Since it is going to get used a little scratch don't bother me.
  14. So now I'm starting my search for a lower receiver. My dealer likes Aero Precision, but we have a company producing lowers here in Arizona so I will check them out too.
  15. You guys might already know but Ares Armor have Slick DPMS uppers for $63 shipping is $10.
  16. Cool. The pieces will star arriving Friday. I have a buffer tube and A2 stock off of a Bushmaster. Will they fit a DPMS pattern lower receiver?
  17. Yup, he said mid length. Funny how people assume everybody is on the same page of music. So, I was looking around the forum and You tube and noted that DPMS made uppers with 2 different heights on the rail. What I did not hear or read was that there is a solution to address the discrepancy between the front and rear sights. Also I did not (or missed) the amount of the discrepancy. I mean can a thin shim under the front rail take care of it?
  18. You can get an 18" American made stainless steel barrel in E-bay for $190; shipping included. Chrome-molly for less. Just saying.
  19. I will contact him. He did said that the barrel is a DPMS pattern.
  20. So I don't know why but I sold my AK (can't believe what people are paying for those things these days) and decided to build a 308 DPMS pattern rifle. I'm looking to get a shooter that does not weight a ton and that is reasonably accurate. Sort of a battle rifle. Oh and pend less money than buying something similar. So I started with a Shotgun News and Ebay. I found a DPMS upper in CDNN sports with dust cover, forward assist and 30mm scope rings for $110 including shipping. On the bay I found a chrome-molly 18" (US made) for mid gas system for $185. The bolt group is an Reign Supreme Manufacturing, phosphate finished. An adjustable .750 gas block and three prong flash hider from Seekins Precision. I did get a generic "Slim LR 308 low profile hand guard. I'm not sure about the correct length of the gas tube so I did nor ordered that. Also I'm nor sure about the hand guard because I want iron sights. But I'm hoping to get your help. Please feel free to comment. I only have one feeling and it has nothing to do with guns. Do remember that unlike a lot of the builds I see here I'm not looking for a sniper type, but more like a HK 91 or FAL kind of idea. Ok. Bring it on.
