  1. I know how you feel. About three years ago I posted a wanted to buy thread here for the 12.0. Nothing and then six or seven months later "out of the blue" a member here contacts me and says he has one for sale. It came with a DPMS nut but I bought an ArmaLite and RRA nut to be sure I had the platforms covered. Right now, I'm sticking with ArmaLite but at the time I still had an LAR-8. I'm looking at an M-LOK rail now but I know how hard it was to find this one so I'll be keeping it. All I can suggest is be patient and keep at it and maybe one turns up. They made more than a few of them and it's hard to believe that everyone would keep them sitting on the shelf with all the new super light weight M-LOK and Keymod rails that are flooding the market these days. I wish Daniel Defense would do a sprint run of them for us dinosaurs sticking with quad rails.
  2. I purchased more than a few AR-15 bolt catches and they all fit and operated fine in the AR-10 both during function checking and live fire. They worked with PMAGs and KAC magazines but they appeared the diminutive of the AR-10 catch. In the end, I went with the Badger Ordnance Enhanced Bolt Catch.
  3. I'm not disparaging the field repair kit. It's just not in stock. A lot of the places say the kit is in stock and then when I call to make sure (since it is out of stock at so many other places I want to check) they admit that it will have to come from their "warehouse" or supplier and they can only give an estimate but no guarantee that it would ship in a given amount of time. Due to that, I went about trying to find the parts individually. Also, there are some of those parts that I'd like to have more than one of without having to buy two or more $70 kits. At this point I found the gas rings at Fulton Armory and I found extractor, ejector and firing pin kits (pins and springs included) listed "in stock" at Rhine Group but there doesn't seem to be a method to order them online. I'll send them and email to find out more.
  4. Thank you and I did see that but I have not found the kit in stock anywhere so I began to track down the individual parts. I also think it's a little more than I want and need and I'd rather pick up multiples of a few parts than an entire kit. I've purchased a few extractors and firing pin retaining clips. I'd like to get a cam pin, ejector, ejector retaining pin (which I think is a common split retention pin) and gas rings. I think Fulton Armory has the McFarland gas rings I need. I think a complete bolt would be acceptable also and if it were an option, I'd forego the pursuit of individual parts.
  5. Where can I get spare cam pins for the AR-10? Can someone tell me what the size of the ejector roll pin is? Where I can get spare ejectors? I'm also trying to track down gas rings for the AR-10. I understand that they are McFarland one-piece rings and I found a place that has them in stock but they list them as DPMS compatible only. Thank you.
  6. Thank you guys! I got it installed and the rifle to the range this past weekend. It's very hard to see but the center target of five on the sheet immediately behind the rifle on the table has a five-shot group of American Eagle M1A ammunition on it fired from 100 yards while prone on a bipod with no rear rest. The first bullet went high but the next four hit about an inch lower and into a single hole. The other targets on that sheet are AE 150gr FMJBT and weren't terrible. The first shot one inch high seems to be a thing with this rifle. I'm very happy with how it looks and how it performs.
  7. Well folks, my search for this rail is over thanks to member LonnyWayne here. I just received from him a gen-u-ine DD 7.62 Lite Rail 12.0 this afternoon, real 'safe-queen' condition as promised. Going to do some other changes while I'm at it but I'm as happy as I could be right now. Thank you, LonnyWayne and everyone who has taken the time to read this thread!
  8. I've been thinking of an AR in 6.5 Creedmoor for a bit and was hoping there was an ArmaLite-style upper so I didn't have to invest in another lower. The only reason I was thinking of "featureless" was because I don't need a dust cover and the bolt carrier I'm looking at doesn't have the serrations for a forward-assist. Neither really affect operation anyway so I can go ahead and get a standard AR-10 upper or just go all out and build a lower and upper together. Just was checking to see if I had missed something first.
  9. Does anyone make an AR-10 compatible upper with no forward assist and/or dust cover?
  10. I ordered a bunch of bolt catches not really expecting them to work with the AR-10A but because they looked interesting and I can always use them on an AR-15 or two.
  11. I use a BAD CASS ambidextrous selector on all my ARs. On the AR-10, I use two standard levers. A thin or even a short one on the left might work better but I haven't tried yet.
  12. The Norgon release is the only left-handed item I use on any of my firearms. I don't need it; I qualified on and operated the M16, M4 and the AR15 for years before with the standard release just fine. I tried the Norgon, liked it, found it useful and would like to keep it. For right now, the Badger bolt catch seems to be good enough. I may still mess around some other catches and try welding on them if I can confirm the material is suitable. I'm looking at the Seekins, SI and BAD more closely now.
  13. No, both catches work and function perfectly fine and operate cleanly exactly as they're supposed to. The problem is I can barely get my finger on the lower pad to manually lock the bolt back because of higher-profile Norgon Ambi-Catch magazine release. The profile of the bolt catch is such that it sits nearly flush with or even below the magazine catch on the left side of the rifle. If I removed the Norgon magazine release, there would be no problem but I use that more than I would need to manually lock the bolt back so I'll keep the Norgon piece if I have to make a choice. I'm hoping that someone else has observed this and has a solution. I need a catch that has a higher-profile operating surface for the fingers. I'm a left-handed shooter. Hope this clears it up.
  14. I'm looking for a higher-profile bolt catch for my AR-10. The problem I'm trying to solve is the practical inability to lock the bolt back manually with the ArmaLite AR-10A catch while a Norgon Ambi-Catch is installed which has a higher profile than a standard magazine catch. I installed a Badger Ordnance Enhanced Bolt Catch and the action is improved a little but if I had gloves on it would still be very difficult. For the bolt catch to work, it would have to have a taller lower-pad. I've seen ones from Seekins Precision, BAD, Strike Industries and others and while they look good and look like they might work, I'd rather not buy them just to find I have the same problem although I'm sure I could find use for them on other rifles. There is also the question of compatibility with the AR-10A. I'm not interested in the ambidextrous catches like the Phase 5, Tactical Link or Magpul offerings. The other choice I have is to buy one that will function in an AR-10A that also looks good and is made of material that can be readily welded upon, weld up that area, reshape it and then heat treat it and refinish it. I'm sure I'm overthinking this so I'm asking here because someone must have had a similar issue in the past and I'd like to hear their solution.
  15. DD says that they won't produce any more because they have their own 7.62mm AR now. My only hope is someone taking one off of their .308 AR or having one that's not being used.
  16. Still looking to buy a DD 7.62 12" rail for any .308 AR. I have a barrel nut for my ArmaLite in case the only one I find comes with another. Thank you.
  17. Thank you for the welcome, guys!
  18. Joined a few months ago, too busy usually to check in and stuff. I get out and shoot when I can which is less and less these days unfortunately. I spend most of my time in and around New England but head out West from time to time. Seems I spend most of my time researching and buying stuff for what I already have than actually using the equipment. Right now I'm looking for a new free-float quad or Keymod rail for my AR-10. I have the MI SS Keymod rail which is very nice and light but I don't like the clamp-on style. I was too late to get a Daniel Defense Lite Rail 12.0 but I'm hoping one will turn up someday soon.
  19. I really, really would like to find and purchase a Daniel Defense 7.62 Lite Rail 12.0 for my AR-10. Even if the one you have is not for the AR-10, that's fine because the AR-10 barrel nuts are still available.
